And turn the wheels to point to the kerb.

Always leave my car in gear anyway irrespective of it being on a hill or not and, as you say, in reverse if pointing down hill.

Always leave mine in opposite gear to incline of road. Never bother with leaving steering towards the kerb but it doesn't do any harm.

I also had a z4 3.0 it was a manual coupe from 2007 rather than the soft top, a future classic and I would love to get another one.

I started with a Pug 106 diesel, really slow but totally suited my 40 mile each way commute at the time.

Swapped for a VW Polo which was the worst car I have ever owned, loads of electrical problems and each time the dealer tried to fix it, it came back with even more issues, sold after a year.

Replaced with a Honda Civic Coupe, nice but bland, a couple of years later it was the first of the BMW’s, started with a 318ti, then a 3 series saloon and touring before a 3.0 Z4 Coupe, best car I’ve owned and good examples are now worth more than I paid for it about 15 years ago.

A couple of 5 Series diesels followed and I’m now on my 3rd X3 this one is the 3.0 hybrid. Probably my last BM, nothing wrong with it but the current range doesn’t inspire me much.

They are lovely. Sure they’ll keep going up in value. Mrs saw through my man maths as I told her mine would be worth a fair amount one day but when you factor in it costing about £150 a month to just keep it ticking over then it’s just an expensive toy. Loved owning it for a couple of years though and glad it has gone to a real nerd who has already done various bodywork repairs etc (car, not wife).

Go on then.

There were some very angry police, a very angry farmer but also a nice police lady who looked like a young Halle Berry. Can’t really elaborate. The recovery company may have been paid with the remnants of the Fiesta.

Forgot to add Mx5 2.0 Sport Tech to the list. It entered  policeman’s country cottage garden via his dry stone wall.

I’d rather you did elaborate on this to slow us to get a fuller picture of the incident.

1st car was an ex-taxi Mercedes 200D when I lived in Germany, awesome beast started 1st time even in -0 conditions. Best feature was I could fit 20 cases of big bottle Becks in it when coming back to the UK.

Went through the usual bland collection of Astras, Escorts, a 408 etc then went through a list of company vans the last one being a Vauxhall Vivaro Sports, peach of a vehicle drove round a lot of mainland Europe quite comfortably. Now I have a Mercedes C200 Sport Edition, you just sit there and it basically drives itself.

I don't really like cars, my thing is trucks and cranes. This was my favourite.

Bought my first car in 1981. It was an old Hillman Avenger Estate.  Built like a tank ......with the acceleration of a tank. Perfect starter car back in the day when the roads were quieter and the parking spaces were aplenty.

Been driving 43 years and had 10 cars in all that time.

Pretty accurate! First one was as a nipper my dad opened the back door of our Marina. I was fast asleep and tumbled backwacks landing on a metal grate that turned my head into a toast rack.

Passed my test in October 1997 and used my mum's car(s) for a bit until I was "grown up enough" to buy and pay for my own. My history is something like:

D reg white Nissan Micra bought for £200 from my mum's cousin in 1998. Had this for about two years but it was weird having the indicators on the right and wipers on the left of the steering wheel. Sold to a scrappy for £50 in 2000

K reg red Volkswagen Polo, bought in 2000. Traded in in 2001, 3 months after having to pay £600 to get a new petrol tank.

V reg blue Ford Fiesta bought in 2001. Nothing special about this but it got me out and about around Scotland following Falkirk more. Was the first car I bought on finance

53 plate maroon Rover Streetwise. Horrible car, should never have bought it but I wanted to have something different to my pals, it was definitely different!

09 plate silver/grey Corsa. Was the first and only car I've bought brand new. Kept it for 8 months and sold to we buy any car so I could start saving for a house and shared my partners car with her

12 plate grey Meriva is the first car my partner and I bought together, was a decent car and I liked the way the back doors opened.

64 plate "Bocarai Blue" Mokka. Bought in the same week my son was due as we needed a bigger car for the travel system and is the car we brought him home from hospital in. I was also travelling Falkirk to Kirkcaldy every day for work at the time so it being diesel made financial sense. Liked it a lot but traded in in 2017 when I moved jobs closer to home and we needed to save some cash.

64 plate white Meriva. Purely to cut running costs from the Mokka. For the mileage we do it was definitely worth buying, but it was a nightmare going uphill. Electrics went in September 2020

Current car is a 19 plate Tucson. Best car I've ever driven. Haven't had any issues with it.

64 plate white Meriva was spotted by my son and I parked outside East End Park before the game yesterday!

Anybody else clocked sight of an old car of yours somewhere you weren't expecting to?

We went to buy my wife a car a couple of years ago, my car that we’d traded in about 3 years previously was on the forecourt. I’d spotted that one about town a few times in the years before that.
