Poor Bernard I was describing that to my son a while back! Couldn't remember the name of it. Presumably it was some clever stealth guilt trip to remind parents to actually pay attention their weans.

In the end the giant accidentally kills the boy and then kills himself out of grief. I am trying to find it on Google.

I've just remembered a childhood book myself. Zaire had the best player in the world, only he died and his ghost was doing...something while they were playing at the World Cup? That's about as much as I remember, unfortunately. Tried looking for it before, but no joy.

Spoiler If I had a secretary. Spoiler Who would likely be a solid 2/10. Spoiler But who likely still wouldn’t touch me with her sister’s shitty stick. Like I say, best all round for everyone. The only thing being harmed is my own dignity. And I can cope with that.

I have a book of his short stories and one was about a set of windup walking mechanical teeth that come to life and save someone from a car jacking by biting the perpetrator to death. It was quite funny.
