With his history with the yips he probably wasn't the man you wanted standing over that putt.

Apparently they played that clip on the big screen at the 18th at Medinah when Kaymer was waiting to take his 6 foot putt for the 'Miracle'. C****.

D Angelo Barksdale
The US Team celebrate Justin Leonard's 60 ft putt at the 1999 Ryder Cup, which ultimately won the trophy for the US. The match became known as 'the battle of Brookline' due to accusations of unsporting conduct by the home side and their supporters.
doulikefish
I'm now at the "we have a chance" stage of the Ryder cup As usual I'm going through all the stages from the "getting pumped" to come Friday " easy win" for the good guys

Langer missing a short putt on 18 to tie it, the nonsense about Steve Pate not being able to play the singles and Seve pissing off Azinger Azinger cheated like f**k in that one.

Iv a lot of respect that he beat cancer and came back to have a very successful career but the guy in general is a p***k.
Benjamin_Nevis
The '91 and '99 Ryder Cups are a perfect microcosm of american attitudes to competitive sports. A nation of utterly classless wankers who are rarely ever magnanimous unless they get an utter pumping and have little choice in the matter. Other than Langer's 6 footer, my abiding memory of '91 is that wee p***k Corey Pavin cutting about in a Desert Storm camo cap. f**k the f**k off.
D Angelo Barksdale
I think it's slightly fortunate that this year's cup is in a more remote venue in the Midwest. Since it was last in the States, we've had Trump, covid and lockdowns, the emergence of Bryson and the Barstool Sports type of fan into golf. If this was in Boston or New York (It's Bethpage next time) I think we might have seen some seriously unpleasant stuff.

I listened to an interview of his recently and Seve still lives rent free in his head.

peasy23
Azinger cheated like f**k in that one.Yep, got caught switching balls during the foursomes IIRC.
The Moonster
I was only 10 in 1999 but I remember feeling how nasty that Ryder Cup was. It was a "win at all costs" thing for the USA and I do feel they'll be channelling that attitude this time round - they've only won 2 Ryder Cups this century and will be going all out here. Fancy sticking a bet on Hovland being the top points scorer and Europe to retain the trophy but Bet365 don't seem to be giving me that as a double. Hopefully the Americans have some very public bust ups for our entertainment too.

peasy23
It's going to be survival of the fittest as much as anything at the Ryder Cup. Almost 8000 yards plus a lot of extra walking between greens and tees.
Clockwork
The US Team celebrate Justin Leonard's 60 ft putt at the 1999 Ryder Cup, which ultimately won the trophy for the US. The match became known as 'the battle of Brookline' due to accusations of unsporting conduct by the home side and their supporters.Much like everyone else I’m sure, really looking forward to the golf and the competition itself. The mixed format over the three days makes for such an intriguing spectacle for any sports fan.I dread sitting through it with gritted teeth though, in anticipation (with some certainty) of the boorish, crude and unsavoury behaviour of the American support on their home turf. The recent Solheim Cup in Ohio was pretty difficult to suffer in parts due to churlish conduct of some of their fans. Wisconsin will be times ten that. Everyone enjoys the atmosphere at top sporting events, but the organisers and officials surely have a duty to rein in some of the nonsense that we see/hear on the Tee and Greens. Here’s hoping eh?
