The tournament is a complete farce. Toulon refusing to play Scarlets last night because they didn't believe they weren't riddled with the Covid shows the faith the clubs have in it as well. They probably think they might as well take the 28-0 now and keep their players healthy, than get fucked over next week when the inevitable positive tests come in anyway and lose players for 2 weeks.

Huw Jones leaving as well. No real point in him staying tbh seeing as he's on a decent wage and we prefer to either play him out of position, or not at all.
He will be on at least £300000 as he turned down a £275000 a couple of years ago and Glasgow offered a lot more.

Wonder if he will end up back in SA? obviously good for all parties as will still be on the same calendar as Scotland when they join Pro 16

From what i can find both Scottish side could lose some big names

Glasgow players out of contract in the summer - Adam Hastings(already announced new side) Huw Jones(in talks?), Leone Nakarawa, Scott Cummings(signed a new contract), Jamie Dobie and Sam Johnson

Edinburgh players out of contract in the summer - Jamie Bhatti(left) Duhan van der Merwe, Darcy Graham, Blair Kinghorn, Jamie Ritchie, Hamish Watson and Viliame Mata

there is a list of the 15 highest played players in the World (at the start of the year) there are no Scottish based players on the list but Both Hogg 10th in the world (£550,000 reportedly £200,000 more than Glasgow Was paying him) and Russell 13th (£535,000 reported to be double what Glasgow payed him)  are on it.

Pro 14 - 1 player

Top 14 - 4 players

Super Rugby - 2 players

Premiership - 8 players

The SRU have always been very clear that they wont be breaking the bank to keep players. The did dig deep to keep Hogg and Grey first time round but were never going to be able to compete 2nd time round. There plan has always been to nurture the young players, then let them leave mid to late 20's so they can get their big pay day in France or England, then welcome them back at the end of their careers.

You get the impression its all about the national team, and filling Murrayfield, competitive pro teams seem to be a nice to have but not essential - why else would they both be looking to play in sub 10,000 stadia if they thought they would be successfull? Scotstoun was too small for Glasgow (probably not now though) and mini Murrayfield is smaller i think - 6k? Hardly screams of ambition, both should have been looking at 15-20k stadia big enough to never fill, but wouldn't be horrendously empty looking with a small crowd
