  1. You could apply those sentiments to quite a lot of the shite you’ve posted here too.

  2. Interesting terminology, anyway....... Competitive matches - no we wont, we look at this long term, not short term. With at least 10 Junior clubs moving and the top half of the EoS competitive, next season wont be much different to this season anyway. Better crowds - what we lose against Whitburn and Bathgate we will replace with Bonnyrigg and Camelon, and long term we'll meet up with the former two again some day. We were a South Division club until last season therefore match day income has never been a significant part of the clubs funding, certainly not during my time on the committee. Scottish Junior Cup - no loss, if we hadn't drawn Linlithgow this season, we would have made a loss on taking part in it. Scottish Cup - We'll be licenced for season 2019-20. If we ever met Albion Rovers, it would be at least the Second Round earning c. £10k The benefits are obvious to those who are open to it. The East Pyramid is there for people to move to or not. Not every East club will want to, and that has to be respected and they can stay under the umbrella of the SJFA outside of it. For the rest, they join the EoS. If a big club has to join a level below where they think they should be, then they work their way up. Long term thinking, not short term.

  3. Sad news. Had heard Lambie wasn't in great shape a couple of months back and thought he might have rallied. So many stories that you could tell but a personal one is when we were playing over in Northern Ireland during pre season prior to our first season in the SPL. My old man and I had went over and had taken my granny who loved Lambie. We were getting the ferry back to Stranraer after playing Portadown and the Thistle team happened to be on the same boat. We were waiting in the departure lounge when Lambie and Gerry Collins came over and sat beside us, Lambie turning on the charm and sharing his hipflask with my granny whilst Scott McLean enquired whether any grub was going before attempting to eat a dry Pot Noodle. The vision of Armand One running up a hill in Ruchill Park with a tyre tied to his waist whilst Lambie shouted from the bottom is one of my all time favourites. If anyone deserves a stand named after them, it's Lambie. A legend whose likes we'll never see again.

  4. Seriously, the rest of the league, the SFA and fans of other HFL clubs should all contribute to keeping them going just for the setting.

  5. For someone only just joined with a handful of posts it's a strange way to enter the debate. You can place us wherever you want in your mind. SFA membership is a benefit to us, U20 development league is a benefit to us, fixture lists are a benefit to us, a better run league is a benefit to us, being part of Senior football is a benefit to us, Scottish Cup participation is a benefit to us. etc etc All clubs should be thinking of their own circumstances and what helps them progress as a club on and off the pitch first and foremost, not hanging around due to some misplaced loyalty to the "grade". We've been waiting 6 years and counting and with absolutely no guarantee anything will happen.

  6. I'm a football historian and along with teamlines and basic games stats I feel the recording of crowd (even estimates) help to better understand each club and where they stand with their own community at any given time. For me it is more the comparison for crowds year v year etc against our own club that means the most, then next how we are doing against similar club's. Fully understand if others aren't interested but I am and I like to see even an approx of crowds in the juniors and non-league seniors . Though I wont m use it as a tool against others.

  8. Who is this mythical Dundee fan who keeps saying we’ve been unlucky and one wee break will turn out season? Not on the wind up but I’ve not read that. Mostly on here we all seem to agree we’ve been shite?

  9. There is no question in my mind that if McCann was less stubborn and arranged the team to suit the strengths of the players we have we would be higher up the league. He is the one who has brought in the payers yet they don’t look like players that can play the style of football he wants them to. That is a major worry. Is he able to out think the opposition manager? He certainly talks a good game but I’ve seen little evidence of it. Up until recently I think we were probably the most predictable team in the league to play against. With the players we have you shouldn’t lose 3 and 4 goals at home to Hamilton, County and St Johnstone with only 1 goal in reply if you organise the team properly. You do lose like that if you insist on playing a certain way, regardless of how the opposition sets out and how the game pans out. On the plus side it appears McCann dropped his insistence of a passing against Hearts, mixed it up a bit and the end result was there for everyone to see. The players still seem to be playing for him so I don’t think he should be punted. Assuming we stay up I think he has to learn from what has happened this season or it will be more of the same next season.

  12. They announced last night's show by stating they would start by discussing the post-split fixtures. What transpired was a discussion about ONE FIXTURE. The final village idiot contest of the season. The pundits, on the back of Rodgers' comments, stated that this wonderful world-renowned showpiece match should have something riding on it, so it could be sold to the world. Some drunk ex-cop, Gray, stated that it was inconceivable this could be such a meaningful match as people in west-central Scotland will go around stabbing each other and beating up their wives etc etc Meanwhile, these two sides play on Sunday at a neutral venue in a much more meaningful match for both clubs - and all the other clubs still don't know who they'll be playing a week on Saturday a whole week after the top six was confirmed.

  24. I'll indulge you troll boy as I've nothing else to do. No one gave a f**k about independence 20 years ago. No one gave a f**k about it 5 years ago (including me) fact is youve got at least 40 percent of a country that will vote yes in 3 years time, 10 years time whatever and you also have a situation where the majority of Scots are yes voters and Scotlands biggest city is a yes city. You can discount this all you want. The writings on the wall and I am in no rush to go out and vote for it but i will when i have to. The difference is if the vote goes the wrong way for you and the likes of RedHandRob then the UK is gubbed FOREEVER and you and RedHandRob will have to use a deformed union jack as your cum rag.

  25. That AA advert with the little girl singing along to Rolling on the River, except the girl's mouth has been replaced by another mouth (an older child?) because obviously a baby can't sing along to anything. It gets on my nerves because, why not just use an older child who actually could mouth along to the song? Instead of ending up with this creepy mess that looks like a fucking Aphex Twin video (it doesn't really, but it's still stupid).

I watched a lot of thistle throughout my university career which coincided almost exactly with his first spell in charge There’s something more to being a sporting hero than simply being good at your job Whatever that thing is Lambie had it His vow of celibacy till Thistle won was the kind of thing that you just wouldn’t get from Arigo Sacchi

  38. Another funny thing to me is the dismissal of games post January against lower end teams as if they prove nothing for Hartley. Considering we were getting roundly humiliated by teams all through the division, to be strolling to victories against Morton/ICT/Queens/Dundee Utd/Brechin at home, and not losing away to the likes of Livi last time out, or Queens last week.... those were precisely the games we would have capitulated pre January.
    3 points
  39. This is exactly right. Genuinely astonished that some folk seem angry that we're not challenging for the playoffs. We'd won 2 out of 18 league games in the first half of the season. Since the January transfer window opened we've won 8 out 13. He's done well to even get us in a position where a playoff place is still mathematically possible.

  40. You forgot about the time ten years ago when they tried to turn themselves into a Rangers tribute act, bringing in puffing 'Rangers legends' to play in Clyde jerseys against Rangers' first team. https://www.clydefc.co.uk/match/report/642/ An absolutely vile institution then. Luckily they were punished with relegation at the end of that very campaign, followed immediately by another relegation to the fourth tier and permanent oblivion. While their big team was also punished with liquidation and death.

  43. Whats the point of Junior Football in the 21st Century. Clubs in the past have had no ambition or wanted to be big fish in small ponds while their supporters boasted about attendances like it really meant something, and the Senior Club supports just laughed and carried on with more ambition. Senior Clubs and Admins have always been good to their Junior counterparts, Open to join their leagues, Scottish Cup, Extra money via sponsorships. Now the SJFA have been dinosaurs for years have finally realised that the country and time has progressed and they are rushing to join in... and still some clubs are not playing ball. East and West of Scotland leagues which could happen or increase in the next 2 years will be a postive and major thing to happen to the development of Scottish Football. And i cannot wait for the day it happens. Junior Football should have died in the 1990s.

  45. Think it would make more sense to try to be geographical on the divisions. There might be a bit of an imbalance with something like this, but it wouldn't be drastic. Section A Blackburn Utd, Burntisland, Camelon, Crossgates Primrose, Dundonald Bluebell, Dunipace, Edinburgh Utd, Hill of Beath, Inverkeithing HS, Leith Ath, LTHV, St.Bernards, Tynecastle, Stirling Uni Res Section B Bonnyrigg Rose, Coldstream, Dalkeith Th, Easthouses Lily, Eyemouth Utd, Hawick RA, Herriot Watt, Haddington Ath, Musselburgh Ath, Ormiston, Peebles Rovers, Preston Ath, Tranent, Tweedmouth Rangers
