  1. Thanks to everyone that downloaded and used the new Matchday App at yesterdays game. The response was amazing, with a large proportion of the home crowd participating. We believe that this is perhaps the first time a professional sports club has incorporated digital interactivity with the fans during an actual game and are excited to see what else we can innovate with this approach! It seems like everyone is enjoying playing the Roary Penalty game (some of the highscores are incredible) and we've already had requests to add a tank to the game ;-) We did have a few minor issues on the day, the most obvious being the errors on the team sheet we were provided (bad data in, bad data out!) Be assured will be using the learnings from yesterday to make some small improvements as soon as we can and make the app even more fun. We'll get an email address sorted with the club this week so that folks can send in suggestions for improvements directly for consideration. In the meantime we'll keep an eye on FanTalk and Pie and Bovril so feel free to post here. If you find any bugs (broken, not working stuff) in the app then please tap on the settings icon on the main menu screen (top left) then tap the "email support" and send as much info on your problem as you can. Do include phone model if you can. Please dont use this email support for anything other than bugs though. Thanks again and hope to see even more embarrassed man of the match prize winners in future! 4. Number 4 on the list. Or should I say Number 7, because that's what he'll always be associated with. He played over 350 games for the club, and scored 60 times. But those bare facts are essentially meaningless because this guy was Falkirk for what, two? generations of fans at least. He signed from Camelon Juniors in 1983, and on his debut, he utterly tormented the international full back playing for Leeds United. He starred on the wing for us for two seasons, before moving to Chelsea and picking up silverware at Wembley there (MOTM in the final of course). He came back for a bit on loan, but despite some inspired performances, sadly we took the drop from the Premier Division in 1988. He came back properly in 1991 and was amazing again, but when we got relegated again, filthy Leithian lucre tempted him to Easter Road. By that of course, I mean the club needed the cash! Needless to say, he excelled there too, although that also meant against us on occasion. He finally joined FFC for the fourth and final time halfway through 1996/97 when Totten came in after Bannon's awful spell. He galvanised a directionless team and drove us on to the Scottish Cup final for the first time in 40 years. Over the next 5 seasons, budgets got cut, star players left, but this guy toiled away, essentially our representative on the park. I generally hate that "one of our own" chat, but it is true in this case. The legs slowed, but the brain was as sharp as ever. Of course, the time came to part, and he took up the player/manager role at Albion Rovers in 2002. I used to work with the East Fife gaffer at the time, Jim Moffat, and he used to tell me our guy was still the best player on the park. He was subbed off every game, regular as clockwork, on the 60th minute. Sadly it was not a very successful spell at Cliftonhill. I've purposefully avoided including youtube clips or photos in this rundown. Go and look these players up yourself if you're (hopefully) interested. But for this player, look up his goal v Huntly. Look at him making Amoruso more of a twat than normal. LOOK UP HIS GOAL IN THE CUP SEMI V HEARTS. There's probably more. Younger fans need to know why we make such a fuss about him. For some time in about 1992/93 he was the best player in the top flight. No exaggeration. And the top flight was very strong back then. The fact he was never selected for Scotland is an eternal stain on the Scotland managers of the time. Kevin "Crunchie" McAllister.

  5. Paul Hartley needs to be given time, anyone who thought we were going to win the league this year were extremely positive or dare I say delusional? 17 players signed and the majority on here expect to gel within 6 weeks. I agree that some of the players signed do not look capable but they need to be given time to sample, adjust and experience the Scottish game. It comes as no surprise to me that Andrew Irving is the stand out as he knows what to expect on the field re physicality/tempo etc. I'm sure all the players signed will not be duds but one thing is for sure, if they keep reading half the slaughtering and negativity on here and other social media sites the little confidence that they may have will only get worse, how is this productive? We all had a great summer filled with signings and optimism.. Add great banter into the mix and maybe we just got carried away a wee bit. Two league games down and already the knives are out? It is a little embarrassing. Almost everyone on here applauded Hartley's refreshing strategy getting rid of the abject failures from last season. Don't you think he deserves time to learn about the players strengths and weaknesses? Do you also think that Hartley is enjoying seeing his team bottom of the league with his managerial reputation on the line? Time to cool it and get off his back as show the guy some support. Before anyone suggests I'm not a 'happy clapper' just a guy who thinks that Rome wasn't built in a day! #COYB

  6. Time for our penultimate penalty box predator. Another of those lantern jawed number 9's that every team had to have, until the 60's I suppose when different styles evolved. The type that centre halves would look at and ruefully state: "They have a cave troll!" This guy was signed from Hibs in 1949 and bashed in goals consistently until 1954 when he was released to join East Fife. His best season was 51/52 when he scored 25 league goals in 29 games, and had a remarkable run of five games in the League Cup where he scored thirteen goals (2,4,2,1,4)! He finished with a total of 85 eligible goals for the club, and had a name I genuinely love. Angus Plumb.

  8. Moussa can f**k off with that stupid 'what ma like' smile/laugh he does every time he hits a decent chance into another fucking stratosphere. If we can't play as ateam without him upfront then we may as well fold. He CAN GTF. Madianga is a baller and nabi looked decent when he came on but when you consider the guys he was being compared to upfront that's not actually that good praise. We looked okay today but the fact we're halfway through August and McCann hasn't addressed clear issues upfront is criminal. No panic button being hit but I'm pissed off.

  9. Are you for real?! After all the guff that was served up last season, today was excellent in parts! Some of the link up play and one touch football was great to finally see! Flanagan had a great game! My motm! Nisbet done well too. Won a lot of balls and held/linked play well! Took the penalty really well as well as his second goal. Apart from Stenny hitting the woodwork, what else did they do? Had a lot of the ball but severely lacked a killer instinct. So I can’t really see how we were so fortuitous. Don’t get why so many rovers fans only look for the negatives. Especially when there were plenty of positives there to see today

  14. I absolutely detest the way everyone within the club uses the word battle like it's a positive thing, and we're all supposed to go YAAAASSSSSSSS!! It's fine if you get something from it, but we've turned into that guy that thinks he's hard despite repeatedly getting a shoeing in a regular basis. Even interviews are getting embarrassing.

  20. Hopefully my wee pet project was of interest to some of you. As I said previously, I've got the (post-war) appearance stats bent over and ready, but I think I'll leave them for the moment - things are too "interesting" on the park. All Falkirk fans should have bookmarked two amazing sites for stats/reference/fact/snippets. They are genuinely worth their weight in gold. No I don't run them. http://www.bettermeddle.org.uk/ http://www.falkirk-football-history.co.uk/ Cheers, R.

  21. Right. While the support eat themselves, I'll complete my task. Here is Falkirk FC's top post-war goalscorer. He is in the books with 107 goals for the club. He was signed in January 1957, as Falkirk were forced to rebuild in a dreadful season under Reggie Smith, which ended gloriously as you know. He played 14 league games that season, scoring twice. But it was in the Scottish Cup that he excelled. He played in 6 of Falkirk's 7 SC games that season. He scored in the QF win over Clyde, again in the semi final win over Raith Rovers, and most importantly of all, he scored the winning goal in the Cup Final replay against Kilmarnock. That wonderful moment is captured in the photo below. Our hero then continued to notch regularly until he was sold in 1961 to Ipswich Town. He returned in late 1964 but only scored two league goals that year, both coming against Celtic in that unbelievable 6-2 victory. Was that the last time anyone scored 6 against that mob? He continued to bash away, this nippy inside left, until leaving for good early in the 1967/68 season. A true hero of the club; long term servant, successful player, and of course he won us the oldest trophy in association football. Others should have joined him since, but that can't be helped now. You will of course have realised already I am referring to Doug Moran.

  22. All joking aside here for a second, I genuinely thought you and Kev were pals or at least must have got on well. Seemed to have a good understanding at the Dev league level. Always pish in that scenario for the lads involved when one kicks on and gets a contract and the other one gets put in the freezer next to Alex Harris I suppose. Must be hard.

  24. I wasn't there yesterday but I've seen us 4 times this season and from the first game I went to away at alloa i said I was very underwhelmed by the quality of our signings. most are worse than we had. I stand by that. I feel no connection at all with the side and haven't enjoyed any if the games I've seen. I've seen poor falkirks more times than I care to remember and even clapped off losing sides on many occasions when theyve deserved it however there's a lot wrong with our side just now. we are like the worst houstie period unbalanced slow lacking threat and confidence. I said at the outset we'd finish comfortably bottom half on what I'd seem however still think there is enough of a core of a side there if set out right to get us mid table. most fans seem to be 90pc agreed on a number of things 1. stop playing 4 centre halfs at the back. play either Robson or Russell. 2. play 2 up front 3. petravious has added nothing yet starts every game 4. very few of these new players have done anything in the opening 6 competitive games to make us think we'll challenge in our next game Hartley has to start with 2 up front and generally attack from the start. opening two games we've set up to contain and it's been absolutely rubbish to watch as a spectacle. get a left back in and drop petravious. dobbie and Harkins were two players that ran a mock at tfs last season and we better hope they don't bring their a game this time. the side has to be built around a spine of haber Irving Greenwood who've generally performed well. on performances I'd now pick Harrison over dallison and play him with Muirhead. so fasan McGhee Mhead Harrison Robson Paton (as no one else) toe Irving Greenwood haber Mackin (appreciate poor yesterday and Lewis quicker but think he'll be better alongside haber)

  25. Problem for me is there are very few positives to take from the first two games. Its not like under jeffries when stainrod wisnae fit for the first couple of games and we still had the likes of taylor and mcqueen to come in. Some of the players are murder, some show promise and others are getting played in positions alien to them. The fact the manager cant pick players to play in their favoured positions is frightening.

  28. I dont think there is really a judgement to be had on the players until Hartley stops fucking around doing stupid things. Dallison coming in for some stick yesterday but at least he was trying to make things happen. Constantly stepping out from defence with his head up looking to play a pass, but there was no one. He also at one point charged up the left hand side looking to get something going himself. Maybe not ideal but at least he looked up for making something happen. See if we are still shite with two up front, then I will look to the players. But currently for me, Hartley is playing a formation that only works with a lone striker levels above what we can hope to get, and midfielders levels above what we can hope to get. Just play 4 4 2 or even 3 5 2 if we must, but Mackin or Haber need to be laying the ball off to guys who are already there to take it or go beyond them, not trying to hold it while 3 midfielders try to catch up.

Running negative stories using pro unionist comentators, taking down pro indy youtue channels, ignoring the dark money story, Brexit impact on Scotland, power grab and why they giving the Scottish office an easy ride. Saying Scottish institutions are shite and not comapring them to England and Wales such as NHS, Police, Education etc. Ignoring positive stories.

  30. It’s not understandable at all. It’s common courtesy. A five minute phone call or five minutes to compose an email would have sufficed. Much as I’m aware that the new folk have inherited this situation with Selkirk, it’s like saying that Ann budge should have been allowed to keep Hearts in the top league because she took over someone else’s issues- the game doesn’t work like that. As for the games called off chat, games aren’t called off for bad weather on excellent 4G surfaces in August, which is why kelty can offer packages well in advance and fill up hospitality at that time of year. Selkirks mis management is now costing other teams money as well. The teams they’ve played in midweek will have come to some considerable cost to get their players to the game in time- travel expenses, players leaving shifts early etc. And that’s through no fault of the other clubs involved- it’s time to come to a definitive decision that means no other clubs or players are left out of pocket.

  34. See, that’s what gets me. Our last League game at Fir Park in May we had a midfield 3 that included Bigi and Turnbull with a front 3 of Maclean, Frear and Ciftci- hardly a team full of battlers but it had a nice balance/blend and they battered Accies by playing them off the park in a footballing sense. Yet yesterday we reverted to a team full of workers, in order to ‘win the battle’ at home against a poor Hamilton team who had only 10 points to their name so far in 2018. You’d think the fact that 3 of Accies last 5 league wins have been against us would be a hint that trying to out battle them might not be the best approach to take. A thoroughly soul destroying watch and @Al B is spot on, you can already till this week the interviews ahead of the Livingston game will be about working harder and winning the battle etc. I don’t question this group of players work rate nor their attitude, in that respect they’re light years ahead of some of the charlatans we’ve had in recent years. However eventually the penny has to drop, there’s more to football than working hard and getting stuck in.

  36. God gave rock and roll to you, and I am giving you the top 50 Falkirk post-war goalscorers. What a team we make. We really move up a gear now. I think this one is dedicated to @60`s bairn who is obviously still starry eyed over this guy. Please feel free to comment further than me for obvious reasons. At number 3, with a positively blockbusting 78 goals in just over 200 appearances, is possibly the star of Willie Cunningham's famed late 60's/early 70's team. He was with us and deadly from '65 to '70 before being sold to Hibs as that side started to break up. He came back for a brief ill-fated spell in season 76-77. Of course it's Johnny Graham.

  41. That's a bit shitty from Kelty to release that. 100% contradiction and playing the victim here. Nonsense! They offered to pay for transport - hardly playing victim. Selkirk had a team midweek then suddenly not for an away game at the weekend. That's not sustainable for the league and Kelty have every right to have expected some communication directly from Selkirk.

  47. From somewhere down south, I'm hearing rave reviews about some wee felly who just started as the number 7 for Aston Villa. He apparently played a blinder for them and seems to have had a hand in pretty much everything going on at their end of the highlight reel tonight. Maybe Celtic could put in a sneaky wee offer while the transfer window is still open.

  50. Cracking signing but I'm struggling to work out what our best eleven is going to look like after this. Signing a few wingers would suggest a move away from the back shree and wing-backs. That would mean either a ridiculously attacking Mallan/Hyndman midfield or no Maclaren/Flo partnership. Or maybe the nerd in me who played FM for 10 years need to pipe down and enjoy us signing a bunch of ballers
