  1. Is that Cardinal Richelieu in the top right...?!
  2. aye, strutting the mean streets of Eyemooth in yer cool blue suit, ya fud!
  3. I spotted this on a poster: Where does Kylie Minogue get her kebabs from? Jason's Doner Van....
  4. I recently had to explain this to me sister, a non football fan, whose boyfriend's father is a Dark Blue and kept going on about DABs- it stands for Dirty Arab b*****d and refers to the fans of Dundee United Football Club, the club being nicknamed "The Arabs" (perhaps because years ago the Tannadice pitch had more sand on it than grass).
  5. yon Wullie Hill had City has 11-10 on to beat Mo. Strange days...
  6. "the Defence is nearly complete". Obviously hasn't seen any of our recent games then!
  7. I just hope we've got room for those members of the "1000 strong Spartan Army" who wish to take up the offer.
  8. I really should have remembered the old saying "Never mudwrestle with a pig. You'll only get mucky and the pig likes it". Anyway I'm off on holiday so stuff yez all
  9. You seem a wise and knowledgeable chap. Ever thought of running a football club. I'm sure there are lots who could benefit from your wisdom. Now f**k off.
  10. Spartans/Edinburgh City Council had a piece of land to sell for housing viz: City Park to fund a new ground and a piece of land at the back of Ainslie Leisure Centre to stick a football ground into. And 3 seasons ago we didn't know we'd be in the Scottish League (and, to illustrate my point unfairly, Cowdenbeath were a Championship club...). You may wish to ask Cove, Kirky Rob Roy, BSC Glasgow and Clydebank Juniors how they are getting on with finding homes of their own...
  11. I think our old cat's theme song should have been "The more you ignore me, the closer I get"....
  12. yes, as an East of Scotland League/Lowland team playing in front of 10,000 fanatics each week we really did have a spare 500K kicking about down the back of the sofa to build our own stadium. And to get past Edinburgh Council's planning department we could have bought some land on the false pretence that we were building either a hotel or student accomodation because that's the only fucking things that get built in the Capital these days. In other words it was about as viable an option as me for Kylie Minogue's next date.
  13. Did we really win a penalty shoot-out last night??! Changed days...
  14. we've got plan B, newky lad. Trotsky style entryism into the Welfare committee, throw up the DEVIL'S ILLUMINATION at Fergie Park, add a couple of turnstiles and Sir Peter's yer uncle- in we go!
  15. The City Club is still going. We're still looking up bus timetables from Crewe Toll to Lochend... I also remembered that Spiers Bar is also a good boozer and not too far away... Ainslie Park area is a bit of a desert when it comes to boozers though.
  16. If you don't mind a walk there's good pubs in Stockbridge- the Tap has decent ales.
  17. If he could talk he'd say "Wan's all ah need, pal..."
  18. good luck though Ally- I thought perhaps we should have some kind of supporters club now we're in the (relatively) big time..
  19. nobody cared tbh- even when the team lines were read out there was no adverse reaction. mind you the crowd wasn't the biggest.
  20. I was sorely tempted to boycott the club last night when I found they'd introduced squad numbers for this season. F*cking squad numbers . 1-11 for your starting line up and 12-whatever as your subs. That's football.
  21. As far as I know Thomson did not play last night - hows that for starting rumours....! of last season's squad Antell, Caddow, Beattie, Ortega, Harrison, Walker and Laird played. As did one of our strikers from last year but I'm not sure if he's signed (not Deeks ) and the new guys we've signed. There were a couple of trialists who looked quite tasty when they came on. We scored a nice goal midway through the 2nd half. Raith scored a last minute tap in from a rebound. Grrr. Raith's team looked quite young.
  22. Actually there were a couple of SPFL clubs after him who weren't squeamish. We probably got him because we're closest to where he lives. Anyway not often I quote the Good Book on a football website but John 8:7.
  23. Glasgow City council are considering the possibility of banning marches after seeing footage of sectarian singing at Saturday's march. Which reminds me of the scene in Casablanca when Captain Renault says he is shocked to find gambling going on in a club only to be handed his winnings by a croupier..
