  1. @IDoNotKnowThisOne Top6 and not going out of the cups to a team from a lower division (Raith), should be the minimum for Aberdeen, although I can see that a manager that can't exceed those minimum expectation with a Top 3/4 finish and good cup runs (which means on not going out to teams like Motherwell) over a 2/3 year tenure wouldn't deserve a new contract, but I'm in firmly in the ecxcessive expectations category for Dons fans like yourself. I think you should've given Glass at least until Top6 was no longer possible in his first season, although as I said in an earlier post you've not been a "sack happy" club.
  2. - I don't know why you think there would be confusion, is there confusion now when a player signs a PCA? If so, again, that's an argument against the window, not specifically managers. I wouldn't be happy with a manager who was looking out for another clubs interests for the following window/season but perhaps you're correct and it's more of an argument for scrapping transfer windows altogether. If a chain is set up and we've got a manager the scope for confusion/conflict of interest increases exponentially.
  3. No Players are never sacked solely abruptly for poor performance. Would you trust a manager who had signed a pre-contract withh another club to be 100% focussed on yours, even if that just meant looking for other jobs? The scope for confusion re the above point woud be immense especially if a chain was established.. Edited to clarify for @Ric
  4. As that great fitba correspondant Shakespeare said about a different Scottish manager "if it were done when 'tis done the 'twere well it were done quickly".
  5. There's plenty of folks who'd dispute that.
  6. The RFs wealth is a bit of a murky issue regarding what belongs to them and what belongs to the state obviously if we were to become a republic there'd have to be some sort of compo package worked out - as we're a football forum I'll liken her to a football manager who's too costly to sack, whether people will feel the same about Chuck who knows?
  7. Such naivety - it's part of the game (sic), as I said above I discount what managers/players say on this issue.
  8. Fuxake things must be bad if The Express is grumping or do they just prefer Liz Truss to succeed BJ?
  9. Aberdeen aren't a "sack happy" club I checked on wiki and they've have had fewer managers than us since the millenium, excluding interim appointments 7 to our 12. ************************* Being a Football Manager is a unique job and when you chose it as a career you're really committing yourself to moving location to progress rather than moving up within a single organization. For varying reasons 21/42 Scottish League clubs changed manager last year and If JG stays for now it'll be because he backs himself to get a bigger job than Aberdeen in the near future. I rarely read/watch managers interviews but the game is well known on both sides and if we get substantial compensation after sticking by him then it'll have been a good decision.
  10. Not really, most humans don't have the same army of flunkeys and bootlickers facilitating the RF has their corruption, so their nature is to follow the rules.
  11. It'll be tucked away somewhere on her expenses - we'll be paying for it. ****************** Meanwhile the Met are investigating Chuck.... Met investigating cash-for-honours claims linked to Prince’s Foundation | Charities | The Guardian Seems like he's been hanging about with unsavoury charachters too, monarchy is by its nature corrupt.
  12. There are only two realistic options when JG goes Callum Davidson - you know he wants to move to the big Saints. Dougie Imrie - returning to the ground where he spent the happiest 18 months of his playing career.

  14. Paying up a contract of £2k/week till June 2024 would be pretty much £250k. Reading the Record article we've not actually knocked Aberdeen back just insisted that we want the compensation package sorted first.
  15. These cases usually come down to which party a jury finds more likeable - PA has been toast since that decision was made. No doubt the costs will go onto the Queen's sundries for this year and we'll end up paying for it.
  16. But shurely that fotie was a fake...
  17. Realistically if Aberdeen have made an approach then we'll have to make JG an improved offer or have an unhappy manager. It depends on whether Jim backs himself to get a better offer down south at some point - on the plus side for him staying with us we stuck by him during that winless run before Christmas and backed him in the January window, but there's no room for sentimentality when it's your living. If it were done when 'tis done then 'twere well it were done quickly...
  18. I'm sure there will be a formula based on current wage and time left on the contract - if Aberdeen have been in contact they must know and be willing to pay what's due. While I'll be sad to see JG go to another Scottish club (like I would've been with McGrath) let's hope it's done quickly one way or t'other.
  19. Less than a minute.... Wordle 241 2/6
  20. I never had a problem with him, but I suspect the reaction would be mixed.
  21. Still a bit early in his managerial career and he wouldn't exactly be a "favourite son" if he did return but who knows?
  22. That Tommy Craig type donkey will be Doug Imrie...
  23. Used to do the nasty stuff and still keep a relatively low profile, very effective until he got caught sticking one on that Dundee Utd. kid, after that he was watched by refs....
