  1. Winning the league is just taking the easy, safe, boring way out tbh. Slithering into 4th in the playoffs and making history by somehow clawing our way up, after lulling everyone into thinking we're pretty meh before turning it on when it really counts? Everyone else can play football, we're playing Sun Tzu. Which tbf i have never read but im sure theres quotes in there somewhere that apply to this shitpost. Kind regards.
  2. woooooooooo Im now all for a bucketload of injury time and a last minute penalty to decide who goes up, please and thank you. Not fussed if it goes in or not either way.
  3. Kinda hope that this ends up being a mental ultra high scoring game one way or the other, cant think of any absolutely wild results this season in the Championship? Most of ours have been generally bog standard football results, some of which tbf were high scoring (4-1, 5-0 etc)., but it'd be nice to watch this go like that Hibs v. Motherwell "Marco Van Jutkiewicz" type of game. if it goes the other way a shitty 0-0 with zero shots on target would at least be a fitting end to the season.
  4. aye, ive been about 10-15 minutes late to the turnstiles a couple of times this season (if i decide i can be arsed today it'll probably be a similar story) and have still been able to buy a cash ticket for the JHS from the ticket booth
  5. think its sizeable, as in a minimum +£1M of a difference, if not more. relative to any Championship club thats a huge increase in turnover. i think i kinda get your logic a bit in that it'll increase fan expectations, but id say it falls into "a nice headache to have" rather than "oh shit, we're still trying to run a professional football club here and are projecting a loss of £X over the next year, f**k, what do we do". also probably less shame in being the newly promoted team and falling right back down automatically than failing to go up and then potentially having another couple of top flight clubs going down automatically & through the playoffs to contend with next season, who may also be dragged into the shitfest but can end up doing a County/Killie and grinding their way back up straight away.
  6. i didnt want to finish in the playoffs anyway, mid table mediocrity is fantastic. Edit: conceding two goals from corners to hamstring our run-in feels like a fitting book end to this season tbf
  7. just took a glance at the table and Fulham might well end up finishing above Chelsea, that'd be pretty funny
  8. possibly an oversimplification/statement of obvious but Simon Murray leaving really hurt QP since he left? Didn't watch todays game as a caveat. I can vaguely mind us playing Raith through the years when they had Gregory Tade who was (maybe?) a similar type of player; just relentless graft up front, I can't mind Tade scoring against us but him and Murray were/are clearly a pain in the arse to defend against, and it feeds into how confident the rest of the team are. If you're having to resort to hoofball then knowing you've got someone willing to put in a shitload of work to either gather in hopeful punts or force mistakes/defenders to play the ball out for throw-ins is invaluable in a poor quality league. Kinda applies in the top flight too, Sammon had a wee purple patch for us up front in the top flight from no-nonsense football when we were trying to grind out results.
  9. im going to watch Hotel Rwanda in honour of this Gooners side if they can win this #gooners #genocide
  10. Assuming its been typed out and they dont just do a ctrl+c from a handy template they keep of threatening messages they want to send out, someone must have gone as far as "We will track you down. We will find you. And we will bring you to justice" - Minister for Disabled People when making that. I hope they at least had the grace to crack a mitchell and webb "are we the baddies?" joke in the office.
  11. also very recently too, Coutinho scoring in the 8-2 for Bayern against Barcelona (probably one of the funniest examples going too) I can't remember it very well, but there was one a few years ago which was something to the effect that if Courtouis ended up playing against Chelsea when he was on loan at Atletico Madrid, there was some clause that he could play but there was a fee involved as part of the agreement. Can't mind if he played in the end.
  12. American context but I guess the same (or broad strokes) applies here?
  13. i mean i want scotland to be an independent country given how cartoonishly awful the Tories are (and Lord Procurator of Fiscal is hardly a fucking inspiring alternative to them tbh), but i kinda wish there were more options to vote for than just the SNP/Greens/Alba Da's towards keeping pressure on for that. Greens maybe the best of them at the moment but I'm a car owner, so it feels hypocritical. still, afaik they aren't ran with an iron fist by Harvie and have an embarrasing Father Ted "money just resting in my account" fiasco unfolding. Unlike, well, the SNP. just need to keep an eye on this as it rumbles on and on really, can only hold my nose and vote for them up to a point.
  14. First thought went to an I'm Alan Partridge situation, tbh. Something to the effect of ending up at a petrol station in your barefeet late at night while listening to Gary Numan and then regaling Michael The Work Geordie about the sexual mishap you've just been through.
  15. I kinda get this point, but I'm always mindful of a guy I worked with that claimed to know a couple of Championship footballers (second hand pish perhaps, but he didn't strike me as a fantasist so i took it in good faith) that both made similar points when he asked them what it was like to play professionally; that it can be hard enough even just *walking* around the pitch since your legs feel like they've got lead in them from under the pressure and maybe soreness from training/little knocks you've taken through the weeks that you just have to suck up and deal with... and then you have to play the game on top of that. Maybe they were just shitey jobbers tbf.
  16. Well, just a wee bit too little too late for us and now firmly looking over our shoulder. Also not too confident for the playoffs if we go into them; we're likely to chuck a soft goal away every other game so going through over 2 legs might be a bridge too far. Still been a lot better with Doolan and if he can recruit well then maybe we'll have a good shot at the title next year (budget permitting...)
  17. ...especially when you've got Darren Brownlie as a centre half, pretty much a carbon copy of the Inverness goal. Feels a bit shite singling him out with his injury record but even ignoring the mistake for the goal he looked poor for most of the game. Would legit rather have McGinty back.
  18. aye, i think its why chemotherapy tends to only have limited success as a treatment for some cancers. more genetic screening for certain abnormalities (Lynch syndrome is the one I've read a wee bit about, just online articles tbh) would help but unfortunately it's probably not deemed cost effective enough.
  19. Had a wee bit of time to think; as turgid as the first half was a few QP players put in loads of running on the ball, but generally into cul de sacs or positions where they couldnt do anything dangerous. So after the 2nd half kicked off they couldnt do the same level of running. Lots of high intensity sprints etc fucked them is my gut feeling, idk. What a 2nd half performance. Danny Mullen cult hero for scpring a goal that wins us the league or the playoffs at this rate. Fitzpatrick had a better impact as a sub than he sometimes does too. Them goals
  20. hm. Is it one of those "Romeo and Juliet" laws situations??? only thing that sprang to mind without knowing any of the details of the case. Flip side is that off the top of my head getting convicted of rape in a criminal case is fairly challenging as its quite often one persons word vs. another so if he's been convicted I'd guess the evidence must be solid... edit: G_&_T beat me to it with a similar idea, idk if its more an American thing but statutory rape can afaik still be consensual.
  21. The european group stage formats are hideous, not a fan at all.
  22. Briefly thought McMillan could go to lb and McAvoy might work as a right back, remembered McAvoy had to go back to Fulham and then shuddered imagining Lawless at LB. Seasons fucked anyway tbh.
