  1. Birkdale announced as the venue for the 154th Open in 2026. Next few years 2023 Hoylake 2024 Troon 2025 Portrush 2026 Birkdale Would expect the 155th in 2027 to be back at St. Andrews. Muirfield must be due a turn, but the crowds the last time it was there in 2013 were well down on what was expected.
  2. Another one from the Sun's extensive Lying b*****ds files.
  3. And maybe I'm just being cynical, but perhaps it's just another bit of gaslighting by a Tory rag. Maybe there's another story worth covering up..... https://news.sky.com/story/mps-approve-privileges-committee-report-saying-boris-johnsons-allies-tried-to-undermine-partygate-probe-12918720
  4. Ultimately if the Sun had 100% belief that the evidence they have is bulletproof then they would have printed the presenters name without hesitation. It appears that whatever happened wasn't illegal anyway.
  5. I was in town with the missus for a meal at the start of June, we are 3 miles from the city centre and it cost 11 quid for a private hire into town, and 16 for a black hackney back home. (And it was cash only) It was apparent that the pubs started to get quieter from about 11, and we reckoned it was due to folk heading for the bus or train home, rather than arse about for a taxi.
  6. Comfortable win in 4 sets for Alcaraz despite a couple of wobbles when serving for the match.
  7. Berrettini took the first set but Alcaraz came back to level it and has just broke to go 2-1 ahead in the 3rd. Very good game so far.
  8. It's a right pain in the tits that the BBC can't just put a game on BBC2 then leave it there all the way through, instead of having to switch channels a few times.
  9. From the news feed thing on my laptop this morning......
  10. Both teams have tough selection decisions to make. After Stokes persuading Moeen to return, he has been pretty much a disaster. It's not just that his total of 63 runs has been poor, it's been the manner of some of his dismissals too. Bairstow has been poor with the gloves and with the bat. No doubt as the next test is at Old Trafford there will be a clamour to bring Anderson back, but he hadn't bowled that well and Tongue is every bit as worthy of a recall. Warner seems to be finally coming under pressure from the Aussie media after 3 years of very average form, while Boland is also under scrutiny. After taking 5-105 in the WTC final, he's taken just 2-231 in the two tests he has played. Michael Neser being touted to come in for him. Both teams have guys in Woakes and Marsh who came in for the 3rd test who they can't possibly drop for the next one.
  11. 7 as far as I can see. Ferguson, MacIntyre, Ramsay, Robertson, Stewart, Syme and Warren. Paul Lawrie is 1 of 6 former Champion Golfers who is exempt but hasn't entered. https://www.theopen.com/royal-liverpool-151st-open/exemptions
  12. I don't see why they can't do what other slams do, start at 12 and schedule 3 matches, but say that the 3rd one won't start before 6pm or so. As they said last night during Djokovic v Hurkacz, it must be very frustrating for the players having no real idea when they will start, and then by the time they did start they are already thinking this match won't get finished tonight. I watched that match and it was clear that Azarenka waved her racket, commentary team all spotted it too. I did see one tweet from someone who saw Azarenka wave, but didn't see Svitolina respond due to the umpire's chair being in the way. Obviously the whole crowd weren't unsighted like that though.
  13. Joost Luiten, Viktor Aberg and Grant Forrest get the last 3 invites into the Scottish Open. Just one final PGA Tour sponsor exemption to be added to the field. 11 Scots in the field as far as I can make out.
  14. Charley Hull tearing up Pebble Beach, 6 under through 17 holes with 2 bogeys on her card. Currently 3 behind the leader Alison Corpuz, who is looking rock solid.
  15. Straka holds on for the win despite a double bogey 6 on the last to finish with a 62 on 21 under, won by 2 shots.
  16. Hurkacz again serving at 5-4 up in the tiebreak and hits 2 of his worst shots of the night.
  17. A monumental arse collapse by Hurkacz at 6-5 up and serving in the tie break, gets a good serve in but then dumps an easy volley into the net, then follows it up with another unforced error. First set Novax.
