More of the same from last week. Not only did England go long spells without taking wickets, they weren't really threatening to take them either. NZ weren't exactly cracking on with scoring either, they only scored 80 odd runs from the first 45 overs, before piling on a few Archer takes 1 wicket again, albeit an important one getting Santner for 23. It's baffling watching him now though compared to the way he was steaming in at the start of the season. Probably labouring the point, but they've now turned him into an 85mph bowler with the odd quicker ball.

My Father and Other Working Class Football Heroes by Gary Imlach. Some folk might remember Gary as the host of the Tour de France and American Football on Channel 4, but his dad Stewart was born in Lossiemouth, played for many clubs in England, and was capped 4 times for Scotland with 2 of them being at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. A fascinating read, and the antics of the SFA then make the modern lot look like the model of professionalism.

Was a struggle for England after that, with Taylor reaching 50 and Latham 100. Taylor went the next ball after reaching his half ton though, edging Woakes to Root at slip. Stokes only bowled a couple of overs and appears to have a knee injury, England would probably be quite happy for the rain to come on with the Kiwis at 173-3.

It's a tough call to make, seems to be most punters double up as holder for the kicker, so you have to decide whether to take him from there and risk breaking up the partnership with the long snapper, or just bring in a new guy who only needs to kick the ball. The 49ers had all sorts of problems early in the season when the long snapper was injured.

Patriots need a kicker as Nick Folk had his appendix removed, it is thought he will only miss one game as it was keyhole surgery, but the Patriots don't have a backup. The Ravens had to sign a new centre after starter Matt Skura was placed on IR. Hopefully that helps knock Jackson off his stride on Sunday.

Thought the first episode was a little bit slow, but was ok, and thought they had done a good job with the look and the effects. Episode 2 was a shambles though with the timeline all over the place. I was really looking forward to this but I'm afraid it's gone a bit meh.

This is ludicrous stuff from Jackson. 9/9 for 87 yards and 3 TDs, plus 80 yards rushing. He should have scored a rushing touchdown himself but managed to trip himself up inside the 5 yard line.
