  3. Got to hand it to AB, he has played a blinder here. Talks his way out of having to take part in those pesky pre season games, then manages to talk his way back in for the season opener.
  4. Former South Africa winger Chester Williams has passed away aged 49. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/rugby-union/49615522?__twitter_impression=true

  6. Tbf I should have said well outside off stump, as it was missing the stumps too. Think they said Australia have been successful with barely more than a quarter of their reviews in the series so far. (7 of 25?) Joel Wilson has a better record. Strange ending tonight as the umpires appeared to tell Paine if he stuck with spin they could play on, then just as Labuschagne was getting ready to bowl they bring the light meter out and take the players off. Think Australia would have loved to get 6 overs in tonight and start afresh with the new ball tomorrow morning.
  7. Root edges one right through the gap between Paine and Warner that they leave for each other. Root down getting treatment just now after getting whacked on the knee, Australia reviewed it but the impact was outside off stump. This looks like a really sore one.
  8. Burns has certainly grown into his role, still looks uncomfortable at times with the short ball, but he looked more settled facing Lyon than Root did.
  9. Swing tempo is my biggest problem, especially when I try and use driver or woods, bad things happen because I try to murder it and swing far too quickly. Do you do anything to warm up? I found a big improvement after I started hitting 20 balls or so in the practice net before I start.
  10. And another goes as Cummins edges Leach to Stokes at slip.
  11. Breakthrough for England as Overton finds a bit of bounce off a slower ball which Paine nicks to Bairstow.
  12. Like this. Unforgivable for a spinner. England completely rudderless in that session. Stokes struggling with a shoulder injury and has about a yard of tape on his hand. Overton a waste of a jersey, and it says it all about how Archer has performed that he hardly touched the new ball. Broad has been a bit unfortunate not to find the edge a few times.
  13. Bizarre decision when Parkinson, Mahmood and Gleeson could all have bowled the 19th over.
  14. Forecast for tomorrow looks ok, Friday looks very similar to today.
  15. I can understand her wanting to take the coffee, my missus takes tea bags with us when we go anywhere. But why the feck does she need the whole jar? Can she not just put enough for 1 or 2 mugs a day into a Ziploc bag or a smaller container?
  16. The range can be very misleading, if you hit the ball just behind it on the mat it makes very little difference, but do it on the course with wet turf like it is just now then you will catch most things heavy. Stick at it, and practice trying to hit it as clean as possible.
  17. Think the wind was causing the bowlers no end of problems, can't be easy trying to run in that wind and try and stay balanced to get a good delivery in. Head rode his luck a bit, but also managed to score at a good rate too.
  18. Australia 170-3 at tea. Head on 18 and Smith on 60. It was a very stop start session with lots of litter blowing across the ground and the bails repeatedly being blown off. At one point they were playing without bails. They are putting the hover cover on as a precaution but it looks pretty grim at the moment, even if it doesn't rain then light will be an issue I would think. Edit: rain on and covers going on, that might be it for the night.
  19. England waste a review after Stokes traps Head with a yorker, but it would have failed on two counts as both the pitch and the impact were outside leg stump. Looks like one more over before tea.
  20. Standard 50 up for Smith. Play can go on to 7.30 but I would think that's very unlikely as it's still very dull. Cracking ball from Overton gets Labuschagne for 67, 144-3 now.
  21. I'm struggling to think of a player who has come in mid series and had the impact that Labuschagne has had. Was just reading the stats on Twitter that Broad has pitched the ball up more this summer than he has ever done previously, as a result it has given him his best average to date.
  22. Restart at 4pm. England need to break this partnership quickly.
  23. Watched the Play, a Pie and a Pint, Chic Murray - A Funny Place for a Window. A one hour biographical tale of Chic and his wife Maidie, very well done with a cast of just 3. Dave Anderson is superb as Chic.
