  1. Just finished Ukraine Diaries by Andrey Kurkov. Written and published in 2014 after the Russian invasion of Eastern Ukraine, and scary how much of what is happening now was predicted by Kurkov. A decent read for those interested.
  2. A bit of a myth about Dalgleish tbh, about 1 goal in 3 games. McCoist had a better strike rate, even McFadden, Boyd, and just about Kenny Miller had similar rates of return, just that Dalgleish played so many games in a golden era for us. I think what we're missing is just that one or two strikers with that rate. Dykes has about the same, but over such a shorter space of time, it's just that he doesn't compliment the team as much as shown against Ukraine.
  3. Yeah, you're right. Not a center-half, not when we're sitting with three actual centerbacks on the bench and quite clearly losing the midfield battle.
  4. Not one player with pass marks from me last night. System totally, totally wrong and it was obvious very early on, yet we persevered for the full half with it. Felt we were better when we moved McTominay into the center and tried to play with the ball on the deck, but Ukraine played with an urgency, commitment and desire that we never even looked like matching. We were slow with and without the ball.
  5. Quite possibly. The majority of the support by some margin was Celtic. The money they (and Rangers) will be able to generate over the medium to long term will dwarf anything City could generate.
  6. Big game for both Celtic and Glasgow City on Sunday. Chance for a double for Celtic and a trophy-less season for City.
  7. Hanley always gives me the fear.
  8. Rangers coasted first half against Celtic yesterday then I think minds were drifting to the summer holidays for the second half, a couple of good save from Fife stopped Celtic from getting back into it.
  9. 1st half Rangers played like a team scared to lose, and City as a team needing that win... I think not getting a 1st half goal took the edge off City, and to be honest Rangers played well second half, and deserved their point. I have only been watching women's football for the past 3 or 4 years, but with Rangers and Celtic going pro, with more investment, I can't see City competing much past 3 or 4 more seasons. I think it will depend on how much the other SPFL teams invest in their squads in a growth area of the game. It may seem sad if city end up falling away, but I think it will just show the strength of the game.
  10. Was at the Motherwell vs. Rangers match yesterday. Rangers 2-0 up at half-time and cruising. But, second half, Rangers looked nervous. Big game next weekend against City.
  11. I was going to reply a few days ago, and thought the exact same thing.
  12. Absolute joke... Sky Sports, BT Sports, Premier Sports and now this mob if you want to watch top flight Scottish football.
  13. Took my 7 year old daughter to the Rangers game yesterday. Her first time at Ibrox. A good occasion for her, which she enjoyed, and far less intimidating than going to one of the men's games. It was great to see the Union Bears there too.
  14. That's what I thought watching it back... Saka clearly holding Azpilicueta arm for a reasonable period of time, and then Azpilicueta getting free by giving him a bit of a shove. Different if Azpilicueta had his free arm round him wrestling, but I didn't think that was the case.
  15. Mentality is the big thing for tonight. We shat the bed for the first 20mins against Israel, but did well to recover. We need a positive start tonight, get an early goal to settle the nerves and just play our game.
  16. From the SWPL website LINK: The SWPL2 criteria for the ground: It looks like Motherwell had followed the rules for their secondary pitch which met the criteria of the SWPL2, it looks like whoever set the criteria didn't think of the consequences.
  17. This is the first season I've followed women's football, and generally, the standard is rotten. City and Hibs away ahead of everyone else. But City still manage to compete, they still seem to retain some of their top players, but may lose them to the semi-pro and pro leagues in England, Europe and America. For City to maintain and compete over the course of multiple seasons, it's a significant achievement.
  18. My reaction too. I see it as an ego thing as much as anything. Get a pat on the back, and a thank you, then they focus on their club before they get dropped from the national team for younger players and lose their place in their club as they begin to pick up niggling injuries.
  19. Glasgow City vs. Hibs in the final is hardly a surprise. Final played at Tynecastle this year, but if teh turn out at the semis is anything to go by (about 350 in the Rangers/City game and 230 in the Hibs/Motherwell game) I doubt we will see crowd breaking 1,000.
  20. I was at the game, and it must be probably one of the worst performances I've every seen by a team from Scotland. From playing some good, flowing football against France, it looked like the manager had went, "it's raining, lets lump the long ball". It was shocking. After 5mins, it was clear that we didn't have any presence up front to do that, and the wingers were ably matched by Norways fullbacks. Some individual performances from Scottish players didn't help, but Norway were just better all over the pitch. Norway were technically very good, and were well worth their lead at half-time. We player slightly better second half, and only really had one decent opportunity, which came from some nice passing movement, but apart from than it was rotten. I expect Scotland to be ripped apart by the Netherlands tonight.
  21. Scotland vs. Norway tonight. 6.15pm at Firhill. I'm looking forward to it after Tuesdays game and battling performance. I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about Norway, but hoping that they aren't the same level as France (dangerous assumption to make).
  22. London Landmarks Half Marathon Completed today. 1hr 45mins
  23. I went to the Rangers-Stenny game last year and totally didn't realise they were playing last night until the morning of the game when I saw an article on the Rangers website. It's just not well advertised to get the passing fan with nothing else to do on a weekday night.
  24. I think so. Bayern answered a lot if doubter with that performance. Even though it's still a long way to go, I don't think many teams (Dortmund and Leipzig included) who have the ability to remain consistent to challenge them.
  25. Might break Wengers "record" if Arsenal finish 4th!!
