  1. Rumours that they want to increase the rent which is already an astronomic amount which will obviously effect the Club finacially, when u think about it what other landlord would get away with renting out a place but not maintaining it ? We have to maintain the ground ourselves which comes at a cost too. I also heard it was like jumping through hoops trying to discuss putting in a plastic pitch as we need permission from the council, I believe that if we became a community sporting facility with plastic pitch etc we would be entitled to a lower rent rate which obviously the council don’t want to happen. All just rumours ofcourse.
  2. I think the long term goal is to make the Football club financially stable and become a real community hub again, from what I understand the council seem to be hindering that a little bit but the club are working hard behind the scenes. Obviously in the future on the pitch premiership football would be a target but at the moment stability and a strong footing off it is the goal.
  3. Nah, we haven’t a lot of money but we aren’t struggling to pay wages. The money we made from Mullen 25k I believe and the 100k from the league cup run has almost certainly helped with cash flow at the Club, a high finish this season too would be a welcome boost. This sort of rumour is unhelpful but understandable given our past record, but under the stewardship of John Ward who I’ve met on a few occasions now I’m more confident than ever that the right guy is in charge and has long term plans for the Club.
  4. Game against dumbarton rearranged for Boxing Day with a 2pm kick off. Players from both teams won’t be keen and sadly rules me out too as I’m working.
  5. I’m sure he scored against us when they beat us 2-1 at home last season.
  6. Yep official announcement meant to be at 5pm, good signing imo, tried to get him last season when he went back to Hamilton after his loan at Albion Rovers ended but couldn’t due to the 3 Club rule or something daft like that. Was impressed with him when I saw him and think he is a decent replacement who will score some goals, hopefully anyway.
  7. No point in going over old ground, imo I think the club have done fairly well out of it, yes we’ve lost a good player but we’ve made some money out of it, and let’s be honest we are a club that needs players to move on for a fee to continue being, the guys that are running the club now are running it like a business and that’s ok with me. Moving on, I believe the club will announce a loan signing at 5pm, a player that we’ve looked at in the past but been unable to get, he’s a young lad who’s always impressed me when I’ve seen him, Only time will tell how it turns out.
  8. 5pm announcement I’m told, the lad we are signing isn’t a major coup but none the less imo is a decent signing and has looked decent against us in the past.
  9. Nothing has happened here, the club have cashed in on a player that we’d have lost for nothing in the summer, he wanted to move on, to get anything for him is good going at this stage imo. Lets be honest he wasn’t a prolific scorer, yes he was good at what he done which was be a pest, win headers and free kicks but I think a goalscorer is what we lack and hopefully this lad coming in can do that.
  10. Not really, think about it, if the player knows he’s signing for anothe club, a club that are currently in direct competition with his current club would his heart truly be in it ? St Mirren wanted him, he wanted to go, why wait ? Im sure we wanted to free up a wage in order to help fund his replacements wages too.
  11. Nothing bizarre about it, we’ve got a decent fee for a player we would’ve lost for less in the summer, he wanted to move, we didn’t want to stand in his way, we have a decent enough replacement lined up.
  12. Nope, from a Premiership club, we’ve been after him for the last couple of season, by all accounts it’s a decent enough replacement.
  13. It’s definitely happening, He’s out of contract in the summer and St Mirren are the only club to offer money plus a sell on clause for him, Danny wants to leave and the club don’t want to hold him back. He’s also one of our highest earners and we are replacing him with a striker on loan. Good luck to the lad, he’s been an excellent servant to the club, at 22 he’s played well over 100 games for the club, it’s a good effort, he has never been a prolific striker in fact I’d say he’s more of a number 10, does a lot of the dirty work, chases the ball down and despite his size wins far more than he should in the air, he does like to throw himself to the ground quite a lot though which can become a bit frustrating, and he is quite a regular in the referees book for dissent but apart from that he’s a good signing for you guys, I wish him luck. Btw we are being run by a proper local business man who knows what he’s doing and has the club at heart, this is not a case of financial problems, this is a case of cashing in before we lose him for nothing and living within our means, something I have absolutely nothing against, Hoppy has said he wants players at the Club who want to be there and if he’s stated he wanted to leave then we he wouldn’t want to hold him back.
  14. I think 15-18 points is a massive ask this quarter, I'm aiming for 12 and if we get more brilliant.
  15. For me, hope is still to consolidate in the league, nothing has changed despite the good first quarter, 8th or above would be a success this season, simple as that really.
  16. Wasn't aware of that, complicated rules, SFA, I don't believe it
  17. In a development loan scenario the player can play youth games for the parent club they are loaned from.
  18. The fact is though he did get game time, he would've got more game time, and he would've started a fair few games, there is no doubt about that. The problem was he expected to walk into the side from the minute he arrived, was never going to happen, just like any other team a loan player won't walk straight into the side, they've got to work for it.
  19. Caught I was one of Hopkin's biggest critics a year and a half a go, most posters on here know that, and most know I have been one of his biggest backers in the last 6 months. Football fans eh
  20. Seriously are you Joe Thomson ? I have no reason not to believe that the reason he has been sent back to Celtic was because he expected to be playing every week and was told he wouldn't be. Does it make much of a difference what our opinion is anyway ? He's gone. I trust Hoppys judgment over a player that has been in the door 4 weeks, he's never had an issue with any other players since joining the club as coach and manager, so why now ? Perhaps the player has an issue ? Perhaps Celtic wanted him to play every minute of every game ? Either way that wasn't going to happen so he's fucked off back to Celtic.
  21. I think people are being really unfair on Byrne, he isn't gifted with incredible skills but he does an unbelievable job of breaking play up and allowing Pittman and Jacobs to play further forward. He will never be a stand out player for us but watch him put 100% into every game and win 50/50s all day long. Undoubedly Thomson looks a technically gifted player, no arguments from me there.
  22. He wasn't in the starting line up, he was never going to be involved in that game. I was told days before the TNS game he'd been sent back to Celtic.
