  1. Can you imagine the heid's gone from the Liverpool fans were Klopp to drop or, even better, replace him? I might even get a twitter account for it.
  2. Deadly serious Gordo. I see this as a true free hit of a game. Throw him in near the end to give him a taste of it. I don't know much about the youngsters, but I'd rather we started being bold, showing faith and using this friendly to try a few things. I don't see too many negatives to at least having him around the squad.
  3. For the first time in a long time we don't need to worry about ranking points or even about the set up of the first team. This friendly can be used to try out new players and experiment a little. I'd love to see Lindsay given a cap (I'm never objective about him though), and perhaps for the likes of Doak and Ramsay to be blooded. I'd love for McGregor and McGinn to be rested, but you'll probably have to lock the changing room doors to prevent them from playing.
  4. Brown qualified us for two championships in a row, and came very close to taking us to a third. For that alone he's above Clarke. I love Clarke, but it's a nonsense to put Brown below anyone on that list based purely on his last campaign.
  5. Good post, but I think, like many, you've taken this line at face value. Strachan was an excellent man manager and part of his method in this was to take pressure off of his players. He never came out and said that the players had a flat performance, or that they were poor. The eugenics line became the story, and nobody talked about how we just weren't at it against Slovenia. We were poor and the defending at both Slovenia goals was dreadful, but even now the narrative of that game is defined by us just not being tall enough as a race. It was a clever distraction designed to take the pressure off his players. That's all. I don't believe Strachan believed a word of it.
  6. Sorry Bing, my phone has decided I'm perma-quoting you (rent free etc). Worth remembering that Adams, Dykes, Fraser, Armstrong and Christie were playing while ill. God I fucking love this team.
  7. Aye this is my take too. I love Patterson, but it's Hickey's jersey to lose.
  8. We get another shot at a qualifying campaign. I'm not saying it's unimportant, I'm just trying to feel better about it.
  9. Anyone claiming that any defeat at a world cup proper is embarrassing is at it or has just been asleep for 20 years. Faroes 2002, Holland (6-0) in 2003, Kazakhstan away, Georgia away (2007), any of the Wales games and a whole lot besides put any tournament defeat in the shade. Anyway, back to tomorrow. I don't fancy us to get anything, but it's not a qualifier (I know it isn't meaningless before a'body piles in) and I'm not overly arsed. 1-0 Scotland with Gallagher pocketing whatever jobbing lump Ukraine stick up top.
  10. Myriad just means ten thousand, no? So myriads is as correct as saying hundreds or millions. Willing to be corrected though. Aye it does. I think it's because you wouldn't say "ten thousands" of something, you'd say "ten thousand people" rather than "ten thousands of people" even although it's used metaphorically. As I said, it's petty and pedantic.
  11. It's really petty and pedantic, but it's myriad folk, not myriads of folk.
  12. Not entirely true. The judge accepted that he wasn't a paedophile and that he had downloaded the image as part of research for a character. The reason for that was a sound one as paedophiles tend not to download just the one image, but many hundreds. He still got done for it as the law doesn't care how many you download.
  13. As said above king's park is a shout. Kingsacre Road there's usually spaces, but obviously don't leave it too late. It's a lovely walk down the hill to the stadium. Great view over the city (I used to live on that street).
  14. That's honestly breathtaking. Like he was literally born yesterday and has neither been to a Scotland game or met Scotland fans. I'm hoping that it's parody and that his mates on the supporters' bus will be rolling in the aisles at that.
  15. Aye the performance in June left me feeling flat and that feeling hasn't exactly abated. I have a ticket but shan't be travelling for a total of 7 hours to see it. I'll be up for it at kick off, but I'm still in a bit of a huff.
  16. I don't see how "disrespect" has become such an egregious act that people are defending themselves from that accusation. I would boo tonight and it would be a way of signalling my disrespect for both the Queen and what she and the monarchy represent. I'm sure she'd survive the slight.
  17. How much did you fucking read of this self indulgent dreck? I started to fear the worst when he said that Gemmil's goal was used as metaphor for orgasm. It wasn't. The rest was a narcissistic word salad of self important pish. I stopped about a third of the way through. Awful.
  18. Beast ^^^. Ferrero Rocher is the correct answer to all of this.
  19. What's with the pegging chat around Prince Billy? Does it have any basis or is it @BFTD's fevered projection?
  20. How long have you been going to Jags games? We had a song for years where the lyrics were "FTP and FTQ" that only got shelved recently as it was deemed sectarian (which it isn't). I don't imagine we'll be alone in booing a one minute's applause. The football isn't the place for "honouring" political figures anyway. I'm glad the fans made some noise about this.
  21. I really rate this. I'm not that crazy about the CB pairing, but we have slim pickings there for this game. I love a 4-5-1 and would be excited by this. I would stick Gilmour in there if he proves fit enough, as McGinn has been pish of late. I just know Clarke will go for a 3-5-2, but if he does it'll be the same result as last time.
