  1. I really thought Flanagan was literally going to shite himself when Bene charged at him with a few minutes left yesterday. And, as you say, it was richly deserved.
  2. We didn't defend well enough on Wednesday or offer enough going forward today so no complaints about the final outcome. It's somewhat ironic that we put in such a strong, committed defensive performance today when up against one of the best players in the country (he is a class apart, despite not actually scoring over the two legs). All the best to Queens next season. Always enjoy a visit to Palmerston - it's a decent ground to watch a game at, the staff at the ticket office and pie stalls were very pleasant and polite, and the purvey was tasty and reasonably priced compared with other grounds.
  3. I think this sums up the difference in stature and ambition between Rovers and East Fife. One club's fans are debating about the degree of change required to bridge the gap from play off finalists to title contenders, whereas the other club's fans are wanking themselves into a frenzy of excitement having extended the contracts of almost the entire squad and manager who led them to 4th bottom of the league.
  4. The Lochar Inn was the best pre match boozer a few years back. Not been in recently. Other favourites of mine in Dumfries are The Hole in the Wa and the Globe, although neither are in close proximity to Palmerston.
  5. Did he not bag both goals at the San Starko last Saturday? Aided and abetted by rank rotten defending and goalkeeping, but two goals nonetheless.
  6. Aww. Wish him a speedy recovery aswell. Can only be mid 40s? 42 apparently. That would be right as it's coming up 25 years since THAT save from Alan Lawrence and he was 17 at the time.
  7. Awful news, had no idea he was at the game. Hopefully nothing too serious. It was at the Hamilton game today. Still awful news though and hope he makes a quick and full recovery.
  8. I'd expect Nisbet to pretty much sweep the boards except for the individual performance of the season which I have a wee hunch Vaughan might win for his hattrick in the Scottish Cup tie.
  9. Also open this Sunday. Showing the game live for those not heading to Arbroath.
  10. I'm not 100% sure if either Morton or Hamilton were completely full time / hybrid or part time in that era. There's no doubt however that this season's Rovers team are deserving of being in the conversation. The Pars finishing 4th bottom a few seasons back thankfully eclipses us though.
  11. You could well be right, but it will largely depend on how far clear or otherwise United are from Inverness and Ayr. Far bigger incentive to bust a gut to finish 2nd in the championship than league one.
  12. Tuppence in the pound? Their creditors got absolutely zip.
  13. I'd imagine the club have the powers to give them a longer ban from Starks Park, which I hope they will use, and they will also have the power to revoke the ned's season ticket, rather than him selling it on.
  14. I wish the teuchtars had held their committee meeting to pick their fixtures last week when Forfar were second.
  15. Arbroath remind me of Rovers in the Calderon league winning season - league pretty much wrapped up by the turn of the year then as we stuttered and spluttered through the 2nd half of the season, so did everyone else below us. If we drew, the team below lost and if we lost, the teams below generally failed to win. Next Saturday is a biggie - a win would put us in a fairly strong 2nd place, whereas a defeat could see us being dragged back towards 4th. I've no idea why Station Park has been such a graveyard for us in recent seasons, but it's high time we rectified it.
  16. There's no 'allegedly' about it. He was convicted and did a stretch for it.
  17. It's not just a case of potentially generating revenue - it's as much a case of reducing expenditure as the first team train on it (not that you would have thought so yesterday) so we're not shelling out for training facilities and pitches for youth and ladies teams to play on elsewhere. We're also supposedly receiving a decent rental income from Fife Elite Academy.
  18. United were relegated on the Monday night and sacked Mixu the following morning. The McKinnon rumours started gathering pace there and then. He said if Rovers were promoted he would definitely be at Starks Park the next season, but didn't elaborate any further. Our CEO being seated with the Dundee United directors at Dens Park added fuel to the fire and within half an hour of the full time whistle blowing at Easter Road the following Saturday, Dundee United had a statement on their website saying they had asked Raith Rovers for permission to speak to McKinnon.
  19. I agree 100%. But unfortunately while you have CEOs whose main agenda is a league structure that fulfills the wishes of TV companies (i. e. 4 meetings of the Bigot Brothers) rather than one which allows ambitious clubs to at least try to prosper, then we're all pissing into the wind.
  20. Like what? Tell us the cubic route of 343 or pack your bags? Or how about - spell the word 'Connor'.
  21. Maybe stick to trying to work out how we're going to get 350 punters on to 3 buses next Saturday Tony.
  22. You missed out the signing of a 37 year old on huge wages who hadn't played any meaningful football for 3 seasons and was physically incapable of playing 90 minutes in Scotland's 2nd tier.
  23. You're probably right as our play off game against you in May will likely be televised on BBC Alba so that might trim a few off the gate.
