  1. It's an interesting thought that a few folk have mentioned so far about growing the fan base of the club. I'd love to see Falkirk regularly selling out the home end of the stadium and justifying another stand. The question is how to clubs at any level actually accomplish that, look at man city, all the money in the world and all the trophies going and the stadium still isn't full. I'd love to see the game growing across the board but I've no idea how to make it happen.
  2. Another excellent result for the navy blue juggernaut tonight.
  3. Stattos will probably know better but a quick Google came up with this. They have it listed as 2 each for Celtic and rangers. Unbeaten league season: Celtic P18 W15 D3 L0, 1897–98[7] Rangers P18 W18 D0 L0, 1898–99[7] Celtic P38 W34 D4 L0 2016–17[7] Rangers P38 W32 D6 L0 2020–21 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_records_in_Scotland#:~:text=Unbeaten league season%3A,W32 D6 L0 2020–21
  4. Have to say on McGlynn there was plenty of split opinion. The season didn't end well with a general lack of form and then a humping from Airdrie. I don't think people would have been surprised if he had been sacked, given that's how football is but also most people did recognise the improvement in the team and also that there was no way we could have gone on as we had been with new managers and teams every summer. Credit to the board for holding their nerve and McGlynn and the team for delivering on that.
  5. Another great win today made all the better with Hamilton losing again. 9 points in a week, even with plenty of changes. What a team. In terms of contact offers that were getting discussed I think McGlynn will at least want tait. I'm sure he performed well for him in the championship before so while we haven't seen too much of him he knows exactly what he can offer.
  6. I was quite glad to hear him mention that. Everyone knows and it and the players being motivated to achieve it will hopefully mean they come flying out the traps every week. Based on the comments of a few other managers I think most teams view getting a point of us as a bonus so think we have a bit of a psychological edge over teams at the minute. As the season comes closer to the finish there will be teams who want to spoil the party if we are on course for that but that's something the team will need to deal with if and when.
  7. Absolutely great to see Morrison sign, does that leave yeats as the only outfield player from our starting 11 not committed for next year? With this extension Morrison could easily end up in the legends category, on that basic metric of goals scored he could be at 60 by the end of the season the way we are playing.
  8. My bet is on Hogarth looking at that wee video.
  9. You've hit the nail on the head here. We finally have a settled squad and management team that are playing good football and achieving success and are a stable platform for the next couple of seasons. The club genuinely moving in the right direction on and off the park and the cycle of managerial and whole squad replacements every summer is finally broken.
  10. Honestly, picking poty from this team is the Sophies choice of football.
  11. McGlynn mentioned in the herald article about a couple of niggles so might see a couple of changes but not many I don't imagine.
  12. That's absolutely fucking criminal man. Think of the stadium you could have built with even just the first 6 million and how financially secure the club would have been with the rest in the bank. Not sure how much we got from Morrisons but don't think it was as much as that.
  13. I didn't think that game was quite as easy as everyone else it seems. I thought Montrose stood off us at the start and were punished but after that I thought they were competitive and worked hard making things difficult for us. We were fairly comfortable really at 2 up though with Hogarth only really making 1 save and Montrose just trying to get set pieces goals. I think we needed an excellent performance from nesbitt to give us an effective out against their pressing and to help us dictate the play however. His performance for me tonight shows exactly why the manager loves him and why he won the players player of the year least season.
  14. Enjoyed the interview with McGlynn. It's good to get a bit of insight into the guy that fans don't often get. Good to hear him talking positively about the club and plans for the next 2-4 years, feels like he would be happy to commit to the club as long as things are going well and they don't bullet him at some point.
  15. Wouldn't be overly surprised to see a couple of changes given the quick turn around and a few knocks after a hard second half on Saturday. Wouldn't mind seeing Ross, Tait and maybe even shanley getting a start.
  16. He was phenomenal, one of the best players on the ball that's ever been at the club. Obviously not really relevant to the Arfield chat as the guy must be in his 50s now so not like he might rock up at the stadium with his boots next year.
  17. The point I am making is that you need the right type of player, not just talented players. We have a perfect example of it this season in McIvor, slated by some on here when he signed, before he even kicked a ball. Is burrell a more clinical goal scorer? Yes, that's why he's going to finish the season with the golden boot, but playing for a team 25 points behind us in the league so I'd rather have Mcivors less goals and league winners medal. The same goes for Allan, loads of guys championing him and he might be a more natural finisher as well, but does anyone believe we'd be 11 points clear if he had been leading the line all season in this formation? I'll take a less talented square peg for a square hole before a talented round peg that doesn't fit. Arfield might still be great, but is it worth bringing him in, using a huge chunk of our budget and benching Brad Spencer for a year, one of our more talented players at the peak of his career? You have to bring in players that fit your system and address your most important gaps first, that starts with an experienced keeper next season, football is no place for nostalgia transfers.
  18. Obviously he was a player that was too good for this level but the point stands. Building a football team is about way more than just grabbing good players and putting them together it's about getting a whole unit that's better than the sum of its parts. He's not the type of player this team needs.
  19. Very different players in a very different system and style of play. Latapy was one of those guys with great skill but let's be honest he was hardly a grafter and would slow it down, wouldn't fit with this team or style as he was what people would call a luxury player.
  20. I genuinely wouldn't take Arfield next season, we play too fast paced dynamic football for a guy on the wrong side of 35. It's painfully obvious how far off it mcginn is this season and we won't need a player in the squad next season taking up a big wage who's unable to contribute on the park. If given the choice I would have Tait or someone like him all day.
  21. I would like to see yeats and McCann get new deals, I think they are good enough for the championship and would be happy to see them with 2 year deals. Oliver would also be good enough as a squad player and I think shanley has something to offer as well, also wouldn't be the highest wages, so I'd give them both a year. We will need an experience keeper as that's our weakest position, I think Ross looks good and Tait if he is available probably is good enough, McGlynn will know what he can offer at that level. If Morrison does leave along with mcginn I think there would be enough money in the budget to resign all the guys we wanted from the squad and strengthen although I'd prefer if Callum stayed as well. Generally I think the first 11 we have now is strong enough to do fairly well in that league and with just a few additions will be targeting playoffs. We certainly don't need wholesale changes that would upset the balance of a team that's got great understanding and is flying in a system they know well.
  22. He looked miles offside from behind the goal and I was hoping the highlights would have it all in shot but they don't make it look any better than at the time. Lino was well behind play as well. I think everyone just expected him to give it as there was no way he could be sure one way or the other.
  23. Yeah was just going to say that myself. The introduction off the new graphics as well are a nice touch so well done to the guys. Looking much better today than they have for the last couple of months.
  24. Lads did great today, 7 points from 9 from our top rivals this season. Last year were we on 1? after 3 games with Dunfermline, that's the difference. f**k the accies, f**k the ref, were going to win the league.
  25. A fucking very enjoyable win. In spite of some of the worst refereeing of the year we demonstrated that we are a much better football team than Hamilton, again and even when they came out in the second half to just try and kick f**k out of us we stood up to that as well. Special mention to Lang for putting an end to the big tackles by doing a Claude makaelele impression and putting their man in a spin cycle on the half way line.
