  1. Fair number of positives from the 1-0 win over Morton today. Coupe started and had an excellent game. Great run and shot (20 mins) from a good cross field pass. Came off with 20 minutes left, replaced by Aitken. Kirkpatrick showing some good touches, does a power of running and a good goal after fine Forfar play down the right. He's linking up nicely with Hilson. Thought Docherty was excellent. Still unsure about Burns. Jackson, Tapping, Whyte & Meechan on for McIntosh (very good performance), Forbes (very quiet) Docherty and Burns at half time. Jack Allan came on for Irvine late on. Meechan did very well, as did Tapping. Whyte looked good but Jackson disappointing. Early days.
  2. But apart from the cock and balls, the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
  3. I'm not sure there will be many wanting indyref2 in order to vote No thanks, things are going swimmingly at the moment.
  4. I don't know the size of the sample but I see a Panelbase poll for Sunday Times shows 51% of those polled are ready for another Independence referendum either during negotiations to leave EU or just after negotiations are over. This would seem to point to many people watching unfolding events and realising indy is a better option and it is happening without any concerted Yes campaign. It'll be interesting to see how the media deal with this. Suppose they could copy Jo Swinson and just blatantly lie, saying there's no mandate, but even they wouldn't be that stupid.
  5. She's great to moondance with, though.
  6. Long before dairy farmer Michael Eavis hit on the idea of holding the popular music festival Glastonbury on his land, he was the face of progressive rock band Gentle Giant.
  7. Managed to catch the first half today. Early days but I was quite happy with the team. Burns was probably least on form and seemed a bit unsure but Dunfermline were sleek and fast moving so maybe short of pace today. Tapping is certainly one to watch - great work rate and movement. Kirkpatrick had nice touches. Jackson seems to be carrying a couple of extra pounds. Probably just coincidence there were no bridies left before the game had started... Ross Forbes looking good. He'll be a key player this season. No problems with guys from last season. All did well and Hilson looks set to continue as he finished last season. Chases every ball, upsets defenders and his control is still excellent.
  8. Black Napkins by Frank Zappa.
  9. Fair point. As an aside, it's interesting you mention Navajo because like all Native American literature it deals with issues such as a perceived loss of a Native voice, loss of land, displacement, as well as social and environmental issues.
  10. There's a strong Gaelic literary tradition as well.
  11. Why are we not raging about Councils with Latin mottos in their crests? I have no problem with Gaelic signs and actually feel quite pleased when I see them.
  12. Has this not already started with Davidson suggesting more project finance for Scotland should come directly from Westminster? I think Tomkins is also starting to undermine the importance of Holyrood. I think devolution is going to come under intense pressure from definitely Tory, possibly Labour, quite soon.
  13. Is this the new front-runner in the race to be PM?
  14. Rory Butler at The Wee Bear Cafe, Lintrathen, last night was excellent. Tremendous acoustic guitar work, Butler is very much influenced by John Martyn (no bad thing) with shades of Nick Drake and King Creosote. Well written songs and a really nice guy.
  15. Is it because she has a feather starfish attached to the back of her head?
  16. Are you nuts? He'll ask her to do a plenary speech about how great he is while he sits on stage, nodding approvingly. Ritual humiliation the order of the day. Excellent. Yes, the public school and Tory way.
  17. Once a year the lock gate keepers at Fort Augustus open all gates to allow water skiers and surfboarders to go down hill.
