Obviously shouldn't be driving at all, but if there's no evidence they're driving under the influence then I'd be inclined to leave it. Never meant to quote this. 47 minutes ago, Raidernation said: FFS guys, if he’s banned he’s UNINSURED! Get him off the road before he costs someone money if not their life Pretty much this. No crashes will be sorted, more likely to hit and run and if they are willing to drive about without a licence or insurance I don't believe they'd give not having a drink before going into the car much consideration either.
pandarilla
Ok. Be bold. Pick either side of a - I understand a very difficult- binary decision. A banned (proven drunk) and now uninsured driver or the community. Who’s side you on? I'm on the side of the community - but I'm not the police.Would you phone the police /record for evidence someone who was doing over 90 on the motorway? Quite clearly those drivers are endangering other people. There's got to be a line where you decide to get involved. This isn't an easy one, but i still stand by my initial judgment.

Genuine Hibs Fan
In hindsight I don't think I can be blamed for not reporting Brian the axe murder when I saw him walking down the street with an axe, given that he wasn't covered in blood at the time

Presumably it's the same car he committed his offence in in which case it will be getting pulled over a lot especially at this time of year.

Does this just go for crime or if you saw a fire would you say "I'm not a fireman" and let someone's house burn down? If you saw someone collapsed on the pavement, I assume you'd walk by and potentially let them die as you're not a paramedic?

Hedgecutter
My other half is the same. A whole bunch of folk will get killed and she’ll say “aww, poor dog”. Folk getting mauled left right and centre or their chests bursting open in Aliens? No problem. Alien bursts out of dog’s chest in Alien3? Get the candles out...
GordonD
I was actually in this situation many years ago. My mate was done for drink-driving (I was actually in the car when he was pulled over; had to fuckin' walk home) and after he was banned he carried on driving. And I didn't report him.

If you saw someone collapsed on the pavement, I assume you'd walk by and potentially let them die as you're not a paramedic? What a fucking stupid comparison.I see that no-one has taken up my point about a car doing over 90 on the motorway? It's a much closer analogy. There appears to be a lot of big talk on this thread so would folk be contacting the police in those situations?Bearing in mind my initial answer was that i would report the guy if i knew he was drink driving, after previously been banned for it. -
welshbairn
The driver might have being doing the sensible thing and sleeping it off in the back of the car when he got done, and be driving someone to hospital when he was spotted later. Maybe unlikely, but I wouldn't intervene without knowing all the facts, unless he was drunk driving.
