He'd just paid a fee, bought some plaques to hang about the house, and they included what he told them. Reminded me of the old scams that dodgy publishers used to run, writing to every author under the sun to say they'd been selected for a book honouring the greatest writers of the year - send us five hundred notes as an admin fee and you'll be included.
