I think so too and generally if that is the case I can see most people hit 600/800 per day very easily.

Rather than provide a better experience for paying blue tick virgins....Elon's goal seems to be to make it worse for those who remain unverified and hope they will jump over.

Alternatively, it could be that we have now moved into a new finical Quarter of the year (Q3) and Twitter have no funds to pay its cloud vendors, so they have to cut usage substantially.

Regardless.....another masterstoke from the genius that is Musk

It does seem to be just scrolling though a thread is enough. I looked at the trending #Elon tweets and just paged down, now I'm limited

Hmm what was yesterday's date?

Depends upon what considered a 'read' and what's happening.

Tend to only use Twitter to keep up to date with certain events (County games when on TV, major sporting events or breaking news events).  So if I refresh my feed during a major event and get 50 new tweets, does that mean I've had 50 new 'reads'.....or do I need to click on the tweet for it to be a 'read'

Also, considering how ingrained Twitter is to major events, it's almost risky to get it limited with a nondescript 600 limit (now moved to 800 because Elon's panicking a bit)

It seems to be just scrolling your timeline that counts as reading them. Even if you go down then back up it counts the tweets as being viewed again.

You also can't use the search function, or follow hashtags, as it generally takes you past the limit of viewable tweets.

Its effectively now a dead site until they remove restrictions.

Surely his advertisers will be seething if they go from ten million views to a few thousand every day? Can't they sue him? That'd be a laugh.

I was just thinking this. A lot of businesses make a lot of money from Twitter. I wonder how long this ‘temporary’ measure will last.

Yeah, and even if you're blue-ticked it doesn't mean all the people that you are aiming to promote your business to are. So you still lose out.

Ironically, Musk didn’t even want to buy twitter. He shot his mouth off with a ridiculously overpriced bid, then withdrew the offer when it was actually accepted. The shareholders dragging him to court was the only reason the sale went through.

Does he have any advertisers left with the means to sue him? It's mostly crypto-pish and life coaching scams these days.

It'll be fine as long as you're selling jawline surgery and GHB.
