Unpopular opinions.

The pre-hiatus Still Game (which I'm now going to refer to as 'Still Game Classic') was very good but contrary to what some people say not every episode was good - every series had a couple of poor episodes (I never enjoyed the beafy bake episode for example).  When it was good - which it often was - it was excellent.  When it went on hiatus, that was it's natural end.  They should've left it after that.  The first series when it came back was dismal and the way they shoe-horned Methadone Mick into absolutely everything was awful.  I didn't watch the last episodes of it as I was pretty sick of how bad it was by then.

Absolutely correct as with most comedies, they don't know when to quit whole they're ahead. I'd say the only exception is Father Ted and who knows if they'd have dragged that out as well.
Fawlty Towers is another.

A few folk have summed up my opinion of Still Game - it was good, sometimes great, and should have ended in 2007.

Rab C Nesbitt was either abysmal all along or has aged terribly: it is unwatchable drivel now. Much of Still Game's original seasons still work and The Royle Family has stood the test of time as well.

Rab C Nesbitt was utter, utter guff. Haw I'm a fat alky slob and I talk like a weegie so you know you can laugh! f**k off. Utter shite like most of Scotland's comedy output.

I thought Still Game was largely a decent show before it ended. Haven't watched any of the new ones as I've heard it's pish.

Paul Young should have been in it a lot more, superb actor. I love this scene, ignore the fact the below seems to have been recorded with a potato.

Still Game should have left it alone. The newer ones aren't as bad on second viewing (well, 9 is pretty dire) but they are nothing in comparison to the originals. The originals aren't over-rated though, it's just a great comedy. Unlike quite a lot of sitcoms that have a laughter track/studio audience, the jokes are actually funny without the need of that to prompt the viewer. But in the newer ones it never had that feel. The bits where the audience laughed wasn't really funny and it became a run of the mill BBC sitcom at the end.

Still arguably the best sitcom to come from Scotland though.

I'd argue for this:

i view it as the only Scottish comedy show i'd give my time to, the shit that we produced before and after it, f**k me, its embarrassing, bellends like Tam Cowan can rubbish english shite like the vicar of dibely and the big miranda bint on his radio show, yet we produce garbage like Rab C , Gary Tank Commander, Limmy , that polis shite and fuckin jolly boy john ...for real

Try Two Doors Down, brilliant.

That'll be Watson still getting a fee from the BBC then.

Still game has aged awrite but not chewin the fat, I was always howling with laughter watching it, I don't know if it was genuinely hilarious at the time or if it was just because I was 11- 12 years old and  my sense of humour has changed as I got older.  RAB C was funny at the time but is quite pish now, trying to hard to be OTT jakey / schemie.

Gary tank commander was funny but the camp fifer in the army ( instead of a rough as f**k west coaster that is expected) was a bit of a one trick poney

Only an excuse was hilarious, but it has long long past it's day . it's just repeating the same old jokes once a year

Rikki fultons stone faced dryness is absolutely brilliant and never ages .  comfort and joy was on the other week with him and bill Paterson, it's absolutely ancient but it's still brilliant

Pizza from all takeaway establishments (notable exception, the delicious deep fried chippy pizza) is shite.

The only pizzas close to being worth paying for are from Italian restaurants and even then, a lot of them are shite.

The correct way to purchase a pizza for home use is from the supermarket.

Nico's takeaway pizzeria (branches all over the Clyde Riviera) proves this to be wrong. Parma ham, mascarpone and n'duja, with a rosemary and mozzarella garlic bread as well. Holds its own against all but Tonino's, which is both sit down and takeaway.

Thankfully Arthur Mathews, the one and only person who wrote Father Ted, knew when to quit.

Well to be fair, his hand was forced a wee bit there.

But yeah, credit to the only recognised creator of Father Ted that he didn't just find a replacement for Dermot Morgan. His legacy is that it is probably the only telly show without a bad episode.

Nonsense. Proper Italian pizza practically on your doorstep. I reckon they’d probably deliver to you.

(Deep-fried factory pizzas also available)

Erm, you phone the takeaway and ask for a 16" meat feast pizza with extra toppings.

Happy to help.

Controversial considering the latter was awarded best pizzeria in Scotland last year, but on the pizza alone I'd go for Nico's over Tonino's. Tonino's obviously has more to offer in the way of sides though, and the cannoli is incredible if you're wanting to add a dessert.

If by 'controversial' you mean 'objectively wrong as the award quite clearly proves' - sure, welcome to the thread.
