If he has spunked the budget on other areas then that's on him and basically has cut his nose off to spite his face. You really don't like McGlynn, do you?

Hold out for serious money and make sure that we include several sell-on clauses to ensure that we get even more money further down the line. For too long we have been too easy to deal with when it comes to our young talent. It’s another reason for getting the hell out of this league. As a L1 side, young promising player X will get you £100k on a good day. In the Championship, X might get you £350k. In the top flight, £1mm is possible. I agree. The days of £30k and a crocked replacement need to be well behind us.

Not enough time to show it tonight, but that boy could be a seriously good player in the next season or three. I would bet he is already appearing on the radar of big clubs. Please don't use stardust.... 3 hours ago, Bainsfordbairn said: That would be for the manager to answer. I presume he'll go into detail about the squad when he does his first FFCTV interview. Not sure when that will be, though I'd guess once the League Cup games are starting. Or maybe immediately after the Arbroath games as it's at home and not closed-door. The problem position has been right back even McGlynn seen that in getting Rowe in. I find it strange we get 5/6 in and no right back tbh, unless it's a loan I'll be surprised if we sign a right back now. Can we win the league with Yeats and McKay at right back....the answer is yes but it all depends on how we set up going forward. We won the league above with Hagi at right back when his right foot was for standing on. The problem tho is both could be targeted for in attack, both have separate attributes there 25 minutes ago, Duncan Freemason said: It’s another reason for getting the hell out of this league. The English are now wise of the Scottish market....took their time but you really have to be doing it in the top league to get those kind of fees mentioned.

Quiet spells, but when he gets a sniff of goal, more often than not, he’s on target, and if not scoring, there is still an above average chance of something coming from it. That felt a lot more like a training session than the CSS game. We came close to conceding another soft goal when they hit the post, but for once, the bounce was in our favour. Solid performance from all involved. Again, pre-season fluff, but Rose looked well off the standard we saw from them in the LC a year ago. Or maybe we were just better? Half empty stuff.

He has no doubt got ability but IMO, on what I have seen, he has a long way to go for us to even consider getting any sort of fee for him. He is not the quickest or very physical to begin with. He has still to prove he can get into the first team at L1 level still. I am not saying in time he won’t be a really good player but far too early to judge IMO.

Whilst the jury is still out for me on McGlyn’s tactics I think it’s a bit unreasonable to suggest he’s not been addressing many of last season’s squad deficits given signings to date. Personally speaking I’m looking forward to a fresh start when competitive games get underway & as we used to say as Bairns’ fans Expect the Unexpected

I have seen Pearce playing since he was a 14 year old starring for an Airdrie based boys’ club against my grandson & his talent is undoubted. I agree with BPM here though that it’s far too early to be putting the lad in a bracket beyond great prospect material & as he transitions from youth football versus his peers, grows physically & comes up regularly against men opponents only then will we see if realises his undoubted potential.
Blame Me
Quite refreshing this morning to be talking about the potential of our new-ish academy recruits than a poor performance in a pre-season friendly.
PedroMoutinho
Thought we strolled the first half against a very limited Bonnyrigg side. They came into it a bit more second half and should’ve scored but we did well to keep the clean sheet. Lawal was excellent and really must start ahead of Nesbitt this season. Spencer alls looked much better with a more attacking midfielder beside him. Yeats is decent at right back but I would prefer a specialist in there.
FFC 1876
Was it a diamond with Lawal as the 10 and Spencer as the anchor? Or a 4-3-3 with Oliver, Lawal & Spencer in the middle?

Seemed to work though.

We struggled to break teams down last season because he were far too rigid in a set formation and it was too easy to defend against. We need players to read the game and be able to move about to cause uncertainty to the opposition defence

The fluidity in the first half was really good to see. I felt that then disappeared once Oliver went off. His intelligence shows a lot more when you see him come deep and make good use of the ball. That also gave Lawal plety space beyond him as well. Miller looks like a handful but I think he rushes a bit much. Put of all our attacking midfielders he looks the most explosive but probably the least composed.
Musketeer Gripweed
Nice to see the fixture list on the website hasn't been updated since the Edinburgh game in April. Big chungus
I think if we can get Allan, Agyeman, Morrison, Lawal, Spencer and Miller all firing at various points throughout the season then we will have a really dangerous and perhaps, the best attack in the league. Hopefully a partnership of Lang/ Donaldson or Henderson will be solid enough. With regards to Oliver, he obviously does have some really qualities and playing in midfield against opposition we are comfortably better than he does good. However, when we come up against Cove, Queens, Hamilton and Alloa he just isn’t up for the midfield fight. We desperately need a bit of dig in there. Would be interested to see Spencer and Hendo playing there with lawal sitting in front. Morrison and Ageyman/ Miller on the wings and Allan up top. Obviously big question marks about Allan been a lone striker but maybe with Ageyman on the wing playing more of a fluid role it may be really really effective.
Bairnardo
Lawal has always been the guy in terms of fluidity. He's the risk taker. He's the one that doesn't immediately look for a sideways pass if someone stands him up. He can stop, look, then skip round someone. Being able to take on just one man in that central area unpicks whole teams, and allows the wingers to get into the box and overload the defences. He can be so important if used correctly.
