Formed in 1876 but not necessarily when first official match played

Formed 1876.

.. allow a bit of time for recruitment from the assorted taverns and hostelries of Falkirk town...

carry out rudimentary equivalent of beep tests...

analyse results and devise bespoke training programmes...

arrange removal of livestock from playing field...

bulk buy half time woodbines and oranges etc.

It seems plausible that matches may not have started until '77.

List of clubs in existence when we were formed:

Queen’s Park 1867

Kilmarnock 1869

Stranraer 1870

Dumbarton 1872

Rangers (R.I.P.) 1872

Hamilton Accies 1874

Hearts 1874

Hibs 1875

then us

Falkirk 1876

Nobody exactly on our doorstep for us to play against so seems reasonable that we didn't play our first game until 1877.

Those are only the current SPFL teams. There were other local teams - our first opponents, Bonnybridge Grasshoppers, bening a perfect example.

Where is this heritage strip that was meant to be released today prior to going on sale tomorrow 🤔

I'd avoid the Falkirk heritage kit and go for the 1978 Colorado Caribous one instead

Having seen the little graphic representation the heritage strip is nicer to me than your home or away ones.

I can't help but get the same vibes from the previous Dunfermline third kit however.

Wow. Dropping hints about the colourscheme of an unreleased strip because you saw it (I presume) on a Prematch Ops document. I thought those were confidential.

 Way to go Leodhas.

I did say I liked it better than the current ones.

Congrats on the weakest defence since Peterhead

We are talking about the colour of a strip and a graphic representation of it. If it was to remain a secret then release it before you have to disclose kit colours.

Although I can understand being the only news story on this quiet Thursday.

I think you've got to remember that it was founded as 'Falkirk Football and Athletic Club', so maybe there was more emphasis on the athletics bit initially?

There was an old guy who worked at Falkirk Iron Works I spoke to in 1970 when I worked there.

He told me the first Falkirk team mostly comprised of members of Carron Company's various department's football teams who had a company league.

Since Carron Company was by far the biggest employer at that time it would make sense that they would have played some part in the club's formation since they would be by far the biggest concentration of teams in the area.
