Anybody business that took one of those Covid loans will tell you there were no such things as credit checks, government were flinging money at folk. Pretty sure Falkirk took one of the small bounce back loans as well, minuscule by comparison to the numbers these premier league clubs borrowed however. FalkirkBairn2021
The SG have utterly fucked that process as well. So.. you have say St. Johnstone who have accepted a line of credit for £1.81 million. And then just 2 months later have apparently 'needed' another £800,000. What required in the space of 8 weeks another 800k that 1.81m wasn't sufficed to address? What due diligence was undertaken to establish the risks of not approving the additional line of credit? Essentially opportunist clubs have raided the public purse to get low interest loans they would otherwise have been unable to get from private lending, facilitated by a clueless government department handing out money like sweeties. Harry Kinnear
Without getting political, think there was a lot of f**k ups with public money during Covid. I know folk who got furlow money who didn’t really need it. Generations will pay for errors made by government during that time. roman_bairn
Have to admit after all the chatter about the regular debt we are saddled with paying each year (e.g. SA stand etc), we are not one of this clubs with an SG loan to have to pay back for many years to come. i know we are all frustrated that we cannot go out and sign too many new faces but it does feel good to be one of those very few clubs that are not only being well managed financially but are also performing well on the pitch. its been a long time since it felt this good to be a Falkirk supporter…….

I'll hazard a guess: Football! I am cynically now of the opinion that no amount of revenue ever satisfies the costs clubs incur. I don't doubt we'd have done the same if we'd had access to the funds. "Sustainability" is the buzzword clubs have co-opted to mean the transfer of wealthy owners cash onto the ordinary fan through mass commercialisation of everything. ... Roboccop
I’m more optimistic than many people here. We should win today; it is Stenny after all and the start of the league series next week seems to be happening just as our injury issues are getting better. This is a team that can beat most of the championship and while we may not win the league we shouldn’t be struggling against relegation. I agree a loan or two will make a difference, but we just have to be patient on that as it’s a few more weeks before the clubs let people go out. We know we have a few weaknesses, perhaps the lack of a Plan B being the obvious one but think where we’ve been this is improvement. LatapyBairn.
Looking forward to this, going to really miss Nisbet today as he’s been on fantastic form in the games so far. Amazing how’s these groups have really made the league cup feel worthwhile, last game, we are in good form and all to play for. The amount of other clubs chasing the dream with sugar daddys and lumbered debt, I’d happily avoid. Keep doing what we’re doing and success will follow. Ever heard of the race between the tortoise and the hare? Well we’re the tortoise and we should be rightfully proud of we’ve all achieved, thus far. We're spending relatively high to secure this squad - possible because of the support the fans have undertaken and the performances on the park. We aren't paupers. We're paying good money to good players.
RC55 FFC
We spoke to Jamie Swinney yesterday and the podcast will be out on Monday. It will be a centric episode on that conversation but we will also review today’s game and preview the Queens Park opener after the JS interview, with the guys from the Spiders Talk podcast. We covered a lot of topics but mainly: How the summer has been off the pitch so far (STs, Sponsorship, hospitality etc), Managers top up scheme, Playing budget, league cup performance so far and the impact of getting through the group stage would have on recruitment, grass pitch forward planning & also why Pie Sports were selected as the best partner for catering going forward.

Shodwall cat
You could ask the guys from haughey FC why they are playing at Hampden when they have their own brand new stadium and what advantage do the sfa get by allowing Scotland players to train at lesser Hampden instead of the normal Hampden because I for one can't see any. Dodgy deals galore going on there.
Springfield
A stark warning for any club looking at investment. ICT have apparently agreed to sell out to a one man band media company, which tbh looks like an absolute set up.

Maybe because having the Scotland team training on the pitch at Hampden every day before playing a game on it isn’t possible?
Bigbrbairn
Would like to see McKenna in the Nesbitt role today to see what it could bring. We have signed him but have yet to see if he fits our system

Any chance of the podcast being out early on Monday? that's my first day back at work after 2 weeks off and a distraction would be welcome
Tea and Busquets
I’d go: Hogarth Yeats Adams Henderson Mackie Spencer Tait McKenna Ross MacIver Agyeman Keep the injured returnees for next week. If we really need goals bring Morrison on second half. Don’t risk him unless needed. Edited July 27 by Tea and Busquets
