The Falkirk FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Think so? Falkirk are probably one of the better placed teams for this, and even then you're looking at maybe £100k for Taylor, £50k for your keeper and maybe another couple of five figure sums for the best of the young lads. You're not going to make up another £250k punting squad players that nobody in their right mind would ever bother paying proper money to release from their contracts.

Morton have just accepted a £50,000 bid for one of the league's standout players. You could argue Dougie Rae's negotiating tactics aren't what they could be, but the top end figure still isn't more than £100k.

I'd be interested to see a list of reasonable purchase prices for any of the teams in this league that topped half a million quid.

You taking the piss mate? We got 150k for a player with 6 months left on his deal, was older than Taylor and far less prolific. But aye, OK, 100k for Taylor then.

Of course there was some sarcasm in my post hence the reference to bobby olejnik. But selling your best player for 50k is ridiculous morton must reak of desperation we sold higginbotham in january for a reported 150k and he only had 6 months left on his contract.

Small teams get small offers. Big teams get big offers. As shown, we get big offers.

The new number 2 is away on a scouting mission today apparently.

Pleasing.

Taylor is worth 350k minimum.

First priority must be a striker we can't go another season with one upfront surely and with taylor looking the most likely to go I don't want us to be trying to get last minute signings in like higgins.

Is this a serious post? Taylor isn't a 1/2 million pound man, you would need someone who could play in the EPL right away to even have a hope of getting that amount for a player. If you get 1/4 of that you could be happy, not delighted but it would be a reasonable fee.

A player is only worth what a club are willing to pay for him, not some pre judged amount any chairman, manager, pundit or fan puts on his head...

Peterborough did pay 300k for lowest league level ex goalie of ours, he won a few best league goalie awards an by all considering did well last season albeit relegated. Taylor Similar in won nothing, won two more major awards compared to boabys best goalkeeper awards, strikers do get more profile than keepers and Taylor's were best player overall by his own peers an then judges. This all stands him in better stead....then there is the scottish league effect to bring it down.....still falls down to how much a buying club wish to spend.... Anything less than 200k now I'd be disappointed..... We sold higgy for 125k with 4 month left on contract....again down to how much a club are willing to pay

If we sell Talyor, it will be for somewhere between £200K-£250K. English clubs know this, and you have to ask how many will be prepared to pay (out of a select few that can afford this price in league 1) this sum of money, when they know he will be available on a free transfer in 11 months time (and open to contract talks in 5).

Peterborough are a club that fall in to this catagory, as are Sheffield United and a few others. Personally I hope they choose to spend their money elsewhere.

The reason why Morton got £50K for Tidser is because they are in the same position now as we were in a couple of years ago, ie they are willing to listen to any offers for players. And because they are a diddy club.
