Ebanda's Handyman Services
I'd be very surprised if Hartley took a sideward step to Greenock Morton. It'd be career suicide.

vikingTON
B. If I was Reidy I would tell Moore/Rae to GTF after the way he was treated by them during the off season unless they were willing to pay me at least what I was making last season. Yes, how dare a club offer a reduced contract to its players when haemorrhaging £200k (at last count) a year. Reid tried taking his sob stories elsewhere and failed, the mercenary shouldn't darken the door of our club again. The idea that Reid was wronged by the club is laughable revisionism. -
Pride_of_the_Clyde
Tbh as much as I want Reid back A. I would much rather have a striker B. If I was Reidy I would tell Moore/Rae to GTF after the way he was treated by them during the off season unless they were willing to pay me at least what I was making last season. Considering he's currently unemployed he'd need to be spectacularly stupid to tell his only prospective employer to go to heck. But your big talk is typical of the 'run-your-mouth first, think later' attitude of most of the middle aged layabouts who follow our club and sully our town.
Bigmouth Strikes Again
when haemorrhaging £200k (at last count) a year. Worrying times. Don't forget the bampots in their early twenties as well.

Much like IronChicken, Foxbarton was only here for a short time. However, his legacy will live on for future generations to enjoy. God bless you Foxbarton. ^^^^ verge of tears.
vikingTON
Worrying times. That was the season before last - I'd be hopeful that we did better last season due to a reduced budget. Between this summer's cutbacks, the Celtic money and prize money/play-offs it seems possible that we could break even this season. But the income from prize-money and play-offs (at the right end) is reliant on putting a competent team on the park, which is why it makes financial sense to punt Moore and get Shiels in. Reid was undoubtedly wronged by the club. You are absolutely right that we are losing money each year. However you do not make cuts by offering your best players lesser deals, you do it by getting rid of deadwood and running with a smaller squad. Or else actually try to increase income by fixing the woeful commercial department and trying to actually engage the local community. He could surely get a club in League 2 or the Conference in England. The fact that he seems to just bounce around Scottish clubs on trial suggests he lack ambition though. As for your second comment - I have never lived in Greenock and have constantly been employed since I left Uni 7 years ago. That your so quick to denounce the local community though does say a lot about you.

Agree with this - especially the part about getting Moore out. I would prefer Hartley, but Shiels is a more likely option.
vikingTON
Reid was undoubtedly wronged by the club. Erm no, the club offered a deal, he hummed and hawed over it while Morton secured deals for other players, Reid whored himself around and has now crawled back to the club unemployed for "training facilities", his tail between his legs. The club should have told him to use his new club's training facilities and had security escort him off the premises. You are absolutely right that we are losing money each year. However you do not make cuts by offering your best players lesser deals, you do it by getting rid of deadwood and running with a smaller squad. Or else actually try to increase income by fixing the woeful commercial department and trying to actually engage the local community. Moore got rid of deadwood where possible (Wallace still having a year's deal left), is running with a smaller squad and still needed to cut the budget. Which means the club offered a deal on reduced terms, and Reid exercised his right to sit unemployed for the summer, and the new season. Looks like he should have signed the deal then. Yes because being a professional footballer out of work in September is the sign of a man in demand.

Not that I have a problem with him knocking back the contract. He took a risk by knocking it back and it came back and bit him on the arse. Sometimes if you gamble that'll happen. I'd be happy for him to come back to the side so long as we offer him what we were going to offer him before, and if he still can't accept the reduced terms, then leave him on the scrapheap.
vikingTON
Wait a minute, I thought Morton's business model of no youth academy and signing up other peoples castoffs was a cert? shurly sum mistak? Morton don't operate with a "business model": swing and a miss. Whereas on the pitch last year's team of cast-offs easily surpassed any league performance Victim FC have produced since their inevitable fall back into the division. Unfortunately I can't see our pointless replication of your failed model producing anything but seaside league football in the long-term.
