Aye I stake pretty high to win maybe 3 or 4-1 type trebles mostly on the non league. Also do a fair bit of horse racing. Particularly happy with this gift as it is certainly not from a retail outlet. Must have come from an auction site , a specialist or Paul Petrie's personal stash in Broughty Ferry Edited December 24, 2018 by superbigal

invergowrie arab
Anyone got any experience in buying private casks? Looking to do this with a few mates in the New Year with the idea of putting a couple of grand down now and then regular payments into a joint account to pay for all the bottling, duty etc at the other end. Budgeting about 8k for that process. Don't expect to make any money just a bit of fun.
Bairnardo
Christmas haul then??I got the previously mentioned Arran Amarone cask which I am buzzing about and also a Cardhu Gold Reserve which I suspect is typical and oft discussed NAS averageness but nevertheless, its a welcome addition to what was a fairly bare cupboard. Always handy to have a bottle purely for nailing

It's one of my favourites, but then I'm no expert My Christmas haul was a bottle of Aberlour 12 yo and some money set aside for a Balvenie 17 y.o when I get a chance to go shopping for it

As you say it’s just a bit of fun but it’s a good excuse to go to your distillery of choice once a year to visit your own cask and you can request samples throughout the maturation to see how it develops. Quite cool.
invergowrie arab
Talisker Storm and Takisker Skye (FFS) but also a c/s Craigellachie which is quite nice. I did specifically request no whisky though as I'm at a stage again where I need to plough through about a dozen bottles before I can start on the half dozen unopened.

I was so low on reserves I was pleased to see a Cardhu Gold Reserve appear! The Arran will be getting cracked within the next hour though.

Ziggy
I was given a Bowmore 18 Oloroso & PX finish. It’s reminds me of Lagavulin 16 but just a little sweeter but not quite as smokey. Perfect with Xmas pudding.

Hamish's Passenger
I got a bottle of this from in laws. Anyone tried it? I think it came from father in laws stash in attic and he doesn’t realise value. Priced at £99 on whisky exchange.
Craig fae the Vale
I've been gifted a miniature of Glenfiddich 18. I can't decide whether to try it this weekend out of sheer excitement or to keep it for a more special occasion

I wouldn't bother waiting for the birth of your first son. Get it sunk.
