V.Aye.R
Was in Glasgow yesterday and picked up a Longrow peated to get me through the cold weather we've got approaching. Have another on the shelf that is much lighter in colour. Love the variation you get.
Scosha
Few drams from Saturday night… Glenlivet 16 the pick of the bunch. It had everything you’d expect from a cask strength 1st fill Oloroso, a complete sherry bomb and one I’ll likely be returning to try again next time in the Bon Accord. Signatory’s (M)acallan 18 was nice, but felt something was missing. It was a dram where you’re happy to have one but wouldn’t have another. Very intense sherry flavour but almost pushing up to too intense for me. I tried their 17YO Macallan which was released earlier this year at £100 less a bottle and it was far better. The Springbank was a belter and was the first time I’ve had a peated dram matured in Palo Cortado. Very subtle peat and a great texture to it. It’s selling for silly prices on auction now.
GiGi
Much were the Bon Accord wanting per half for that Macallan? I imagine it's slightly cheaper since they didn't stick the name on the bottle but still, the CS Signatory bottles are not cheap.

GiGi
At no less than 30 grand off, a bargain too good to miss. Also, I'm not sure the company who's mailing list this is from have accurately reviewed my purchase history. No c**t is buying that to drink it ffs Edited December 6, 2023 by Alert Mongoose
vikingTON
Tried the Deanston 12 for the first time this evening. My first verdict on drink can be a wee bit unreliable*, but while it was absolutely fine, I felt it lacked any sort of direction - as if it was waiting for even a basic cask finish to add some interest. Once again the Ledaig Sinclair Rioja Cask wins out. * My judgment of shan footballers remains sound

Scosha
Picked this up for £45 as I’m daft for dark Sherried whiskies. Only had a nip out of it and was pretty disappointed, had a great mouthfeel but too much oak in there and a short finish. Hopefully second time around I’ll enjoy it more, but guessing the price tag is a reflection of how good/poor the dram is. Play around with water and leaving it for 30mins etc. If not come back to it in 6 months and try again. Some of my best drams are halfway down a bottle i wrote off months previously
