The Wee Man 4/10

Really shit hagiography about Glasgow gangster Paul Ferris. Redeemed only slightly by the fact that the guy that played Arthur Thompson Jr decided to go f**k it and chew as much of the scenery as he could. (Netflix)

Jago The Hunter 7/10

This is great, it's more like a painting than a film. It's About a man in his 80s who's lived free diving for fish all his life. Like I say it's more atmospheric than anything. Pacing and crystalline azure scenes. (BBC4/iPlayer)

The Other Side of Hope 8/10

Loved this, serious subject matter (Syrian refugee being treated like shit by a rubbish system and neo Nazis) but done as a comedy, although classic Scando (in this case Finnish) dark comedy of silences, loneliness and despair. (cinema)

Free Fire 6/10

Massive shoot 'em up, loads of fucked up accents, good to hear a bit of Sharlto Copley though, the prawns, the fookin prawns, that guy, the shoot out goes on for so long that it almost becomes comedic but also kinda boring. (Torrent)

Patch of Fog(sky)

really good drama set in Belfast starring Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill as a successful author and TV personality who ends up gaining an unwanted friend in loner security guard played by Stephen Graham. 2 excellent performances and a good few twists along the way . 8/10

Ghost in the Shell (1995)

Thought i would watch the original cartoons before taking in the Scarlet Johansen version - Still excellent after all these years, animation is still as good as anything that has come out since. As with any Sci-fi it has started to age as actual technology passes what was percieved as many years in advance (the little things like mobile phones, Wifi etc overtaking fixed lines..) but still very good, and current in its issues.

Genysis 0/10

Swerved this at cinema at the time as everyone said it was shit and never happened to catch it since...don't know what everyone was on about, best film I've ever seen. I think it's just that T franchise fans were jaded. Brilliant from start to finish. Arnie, the action, the incredible timelines, the amazing dialogue. Even the "I'll be back". I laughed until I fucking died.

Or alternatively the most miserable piece of shit follow-up I've ever seen. Abysmal, not deserving of a single mark out of ten, seriously. No charm, no fun, effects are beyond. If I didn't love the originals this would kill the franchise for me and I like the odd film. So much of T2 was a revelation this was just pathetic. It really is dogshit. A snore fest. (Netflix)
