What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Why did he try and kill Black Widow then? Or was she just in his way? She wasn't attacking him. There was an attack on the ship that had nothing to do with her.

it may have something to do who he is angry with when he turns to the hulk

when he turns in the helicarrier, he is mighty pissed at everyone, especially S.H.I.E.L.D personnel, whereas in New York he turns into the Hulk by being angry at the invading army and a sense to protect his teammates, which would indicate why he saved stark when he fell from the portal

Fair do's.

Watched battleships, and it turned out exactly exactly as I was expected. Big budget American cheesefest. Reminded me of GI Joe, which was also shit!

Caught this as well. Fucking horrendous. Budget of $200 million and I'm not sure if any of it was well used. Liam Neeson was decent and the way they used the tradition Battleship game was decent. But that was about it.

Real dogshit stuff. I'm sure there was a few people saying at the time of its release that it was fantastic.

Not sure if I said it was fantastic but I certainly enjoyed it for what it was. Thought it was fun, cheesy, action packed etc. Never gonna win any awards but thought it ticked most of the boxes for what I had expected from it (albeit that wasn't a great deal)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

A far better film than I expected it to be and probably in the top 3 films that I have watched this year, sitting just behind Les Miserables and Argo, which is another that I enjoyed much more than I thought I would!

9/10

Lincoln (2012)

A bit opposite here but I expected far much more from this film than what I actually received. I mean, it was OK, but that was it for me. It wasn't the type of movie that it was that put me off as I enjoy other similar films but more the way the film was made. I just found it, well, boring. I realise that it's heavily based on dialogue but that's not usually an issue for me but in this film it was. I found it quote overrated to be honest, but that's just my opinion.

Also, I thought that the perfect ending would have been Lincoln walking down the corridor with his back turned and not bothering with him being assassinated. I thought it slightly detracted from what the film was about, the passing of the 13 Amendment not a film about Abraham Lincoln.

That being said, I watched it in Berlin and the Germans loved it. Seriously, it was like a comedy. They'd laugh at everything!

7/10

Loser

Woody Harrelson plays a gambling & substance addict trying to win a poker tournament to save his casino. I forget his name, but the hyperchondriac from Scrubs is in it, too

Awful, truly awful film. 2/10

I thought this was going to be about the Jason Biggs film.

Which is also 2/10 material.

21 Jump Street ( 2012 )

Fucking hell, this is fantastic. One of the few recent comedies which had me howling with laughter on a regular basis. Certainly can't remember the last time I laughed so much at a movie which has the intention of being funny. Really well made, with some of the timing of the gags being terrific, some wonderful stereotyping, some smart jokes and the cast is glorious. Love it.

I also caught Battleships last night and it certainly wasnt a great film by any stretch of the imagination but I somehow found myself enjoying it? The action set pieces and effects were really, really good but the story, dialogue and pacing was absolutely laughable.

A generous 5/10.

when they get a bunch of OAP's to ressurect a floating museum with incredible ease then thats when the game is well and truly up

Might have a watch later, you haven't recommended any crap that I've seen....

"Robot and Frank" is a decent watch - A bit funny, a bit moving, a bit of tension. The subversion of the system implied in messing with the robot's directives is excellent. It also chimes with my sense of loss of things that matter in favour of flash and sensationalism with the library closure. 7/10.

I've already spoke to someone, maybe forehead, about 21 Jump St on here.

You really do need to see it. Like Dom Dom says, i was howling with laughter throughout.

It may well have been, I caught it at the tail end of last year. It's absolute quality, even after one viewing I can tell it's going to be one of my favourite comedies.

Wreck It Ralph 8/10

Yet another American CGI cartoon that dances itself into a corner trying to mix the standard aspirational meme with the standard reactionary undercurrent of knowing thy place and staying put (which is, to be fair, actually a plot function in this one). Manages a better job of balancing that than most, though, and throws in even more videogame references than Scott Pilgrim managed, which is definitely a plus.

I watched Unstoppable the other night. I didn't like it, the characters were dull, there was no tension and it was really poorly shot. 4/10

Arbitrage

I saw this at an Unlimited screening in Cineworld. I stumbled across the trailer a few weeks ago and it really grabbed my interest.

Robert Miller (Gere) is, on the surface at least, an excellent businessman. He's a multi-millionaire, has a great family life and is an American icon really. This, as is revealed early on, is a facade and the many threads in his life begin to tangle as he desperately tries to keep up the illusion shown at the start of the film.

Richard Gere puts in a performance that is up there with his best: he plays a character that is so utterly loathsome but you don't want to hate him. Tim Roth almost verges into chewing up the scenery territory but he pulls off a good performance as a police officer who has many similarities to Gere's character despite the obvious differences. The lahvely Brit Marling has an uncanny resemblance to Ivanka Trump in both appearance and her role as Miller's daughter, the CIO of her father's company. Susan Sarandon does what is required and Nate Parker does a decent job as well. Basically the whole cast to themselves justice (and I was pleased to see the fantastic Norman Wilson from The Wire make an appearance).

The dialogue is the best thing about this film though. I found it to be very well written and this is a thriller that replaces action with words, and it works very well. There's a very "Nolan" ending which appealed to me.

I don't think there's anything technical to gush over but I did find the apparent lack of artificial lighting (which you will notice) gave the film quite a realistic feel.

Ultimately I found it to be a very enjoyable and well written thriller.

7.5/10

( B+ / A- )

ARGO

Finally saw this on Saturday. Gripping, tense, funny and wonderfully shot. Brilliant stuff from John Goodman as usual. I loved the shots of the plane landing in Tehran. THAT's what a big screen is for!

Watch out for the stuff hidden amongst the credits at the end. As we headed out we heard speaking and I think just about everyone stopped and stood watching until that had finished.

10/10
