Belfast Council remove Union Flag

Don't think there will be any problems at all with that actually - though no doubt there will be sensational press reports to the contrary over some incident or other.

I wouldn't hold much hope that it would pass 'unmarked' for a whole year, and once there is one 'incident',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Three men in their 40s have been charged with terror offences over the discovery of a homemade rocket in a car in Londonderry.

They are charged with possession of explosives, conspiracy to murder and having articles for use in terrorism.

The men are due before Derry's Magistrates Court on Monday. Another man was released.

A senior police officer has said he has no doubt the rocket was to be used to try and kill his officers.

Chief Supt Stephen Martin said the device was of a type used extensively by insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This a weapon which is used primarily to attack armoured vehicles and kill the occupants of those vehicles," Chief Supt Martin said.

Chief Supt Martin said three of the rockets, which he termed "explosively formed projectiles" had previously been seized in Northern Ireland recently, but this was the first in Derry.

Guest Kincardine

Anyone listen to Off the Ball earlier with Bruce Morton and Tony Roper as guests?

Cosgrove: What would you give Rangers as a gift on their 140th birthday?

Morton: I hear there's a union flag in Belfast going spare.

The removal of the flag was a petty act of the current political ascendency of Belfast, deliberately designed to goad the most ignorant factions of Unionism into displaying their backwardness to the world.

What a load of rubbish. The flag hasn't been removed it will still fly but only on certain days bringing Belfast into line with the majority of other British cities.

Just watched the news. If they are so proud of their flag, why are so many of them covering their faces? Is it because, as the news correspondent suggested, this is all being orchestrated by loyalist paramilitaries? Masters of faux indignation...

The bottom line is they are a mix of thugs and neds. They are as representative of the wider Unionist community as the English rioters the other summer are of all English society.

The PSNI have a term for it - recreational rioting.

Remember a few years ago when Polish hooligans beat the tar out of some NI fans in Belfast? Loyalist mobs in the city proceeded to burn eastern European families out of their homes, regardless of whether they were Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian or whatever.

They like burning people out of their homes, those loyalists.

Scum of the Earth doesn't even begin to describe them.

BNP are now having say on it

By Steven Moore - The disgraceful decision by Belfast City Council to remove the flag of our nation, the Union Flag, from the City Hall Has provoked predicable violent outrage in sections of the Loyalist/Unionist community.

In the ensuing violence, on Monday evening 18 people were injured in the city centre and in east Belfast.

Given their past record of genocide and mass murder is particularly galling to hear the hypocritical condemnations of the trouble from Sinn Fein/IRA's Gerry Kelly!

While one cannot condone violence one can understand the reasons for it and the desperation felt in Loyalist/Unionist communities.

This latest issue is seen as yet another, in a long line of concessions, to the IRA, and a widespread realisation that our community have gained nothing from the "Peace Process".

The hated Parades Commission's determinations seem to be always a sop to Republicans and their orchestrated campaign of hatred against Orange /Protestant culture. This has proved to be a source constant frustration amongst Unionists.

The PSNI's "kid glove" treatment towards Republican violence in comparison to their "heavy handed" approach to loyalist protests is another issue which is deeply worrying.

One can draw parallels from mainland UK where rabid Islamists can take over the streets with impunity while the police stand and do nothing, while when British patriots protest they are met with body-amour, batons and aggression.

The police, it would seem, have more resources to chase loyalist bandsmen, some of whom are 14 years old, at the behest of the parades commission and SF/IRA than they have to investigate "hate crime against the Unionist community like Republican Para-military bands playing their battle songs outside Protestant churches.

I recently lodged a "hate crime "complaint to the PSNI with regards to the behaviour of Cliftonville fans booing the minute's silence on the 10th of November before their match with Linfield.

I was met with the predictable prevarications and a decided reluctance to take any action against what I considered to be nothing less than incitement to sectarian hate.

Had the outpouring of hatred been perceived as anti- Catholic, racist or homophobic I suspect their response would have been somewhat different!

All of this is, of course, aided and abetted by the Marxist ant-British BBC through their shockingly biased reporting against Unionists.

For years Republicans propagated the myth that they were second class citizens in Northern Ireland.

Ongoing events prove, if proof were needed, that the Unionist/Loyalist community is indeed treated as second class citizens.

Sinn Fein/IRA and their allies had been campaigning to have the flag removed permanently in their ongoing war against all things British and Unionist.

However the flag will be displayed on certain designated days throughout the year.

The motion, proposed by Alliance, was passed by 29 votes to 21.

It is important to note that the Alliance party, who claim to be neutral and have been pivotal in this and other recent issues which appear to be anti-Unionist and seemingly furthering a Republican agenda.

Quite how the people of the predominantly Loyalist east of the city will now view their Alliance M.P. Naomi Long in the wake of this latest attack on our nationality and cultural identity, I wouldn't like to say.

However I would not like to be an Alliance election worker canvassing on the Newtownards Road or the Ballybeen estate in any future contests.

I imagine they will be considered the same as Sinn Fein/IRA or the SDLP.

It also has to be said that Unionist political parties have abjectly failed to represent their people be granting concession after concession to Republicanism.

It is incredible that while this attack on British culture is being perpetrated in the name of a "shared future" a children's playground in Newry Co Down is to retain the name of an IRA gunman and hunger striker Raymond McCreesh who was implicated in the Kingsmill sectarian massacre in 1976 in which ten innocent Protestants were butchered.

"Sinn Fein and the SDLP have voted to retain the title of a Newry playground named after an IRA gunman who was caught with a weapon used in the notorious Kingsmills massacre. The council voted to name the Patrick Street playground after IRA man Raymond McCreesh in 2001 – despite the fact that 16 per cent of residents opposed the change in a survey. Unionists appealed to the Equality Commission which called for an equality impact assessment in 2008.But a council sub-committee finally decided this week that naming the park after McCreesh complies with their legal requirement to "promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different religious belief and political opinion".

Republicans have long said that their "war aim" was to remove the British presence in Ireland.

Well our community is the British presence on the island of Ireland that has been here for centuries.

We shall never be removed from our land!

The British National Party, unlike the establishment parties, Tories, Labour, Lib Dems, give our unconditional support to the people of Northern Ireland who are rightly appalled at this latest attack on their British identity.
