You can imagine the slavering of ecto if Salmond put himself forward for the programme. SNP are a 'one man band', Reynard would have mentioned his weight before swearing lots.

Alex Salmond > Stewart Hosie > John Swinney > Nicola Sturgeon > Kenny McAskill. imo.

I would like to see Hosie involved a lot more as he's excellent.

Humza Yousaf and Angus MacNeil have both had plenty TV appearances as well, certainly more than Lamont.

While it must be tempting to publicly pulverise him it would be unworthy for Salmond, Scotland's First Minister, to debate directly with a failed, out of office no mark like Alastair Darling.

Salmond's equal in this respect would be the UK Prime Minister.

Darling's the Head of Better Together, perhaps he should go and badger Blair Jenkins.

That really sounds like an excuse Wolf.

I realise like all Generals,Salmond wants to select where and when to 'fight',fair enough, but he's obviously ducking a scrap with Mr Funny Eye Brows.

Maybe later, but for the time being he is relying on creating divide between England and Scotland, trying to remain popular and keep hold of credibility. He doesn't want to risk all by 'fighting' Darling, not yet.

DeeGas has a real bee in his bonnet about wanting to see Darling vs Salmond. Maybe he would also like to see David Cameron vs. random man off the street? What is his obsession with having the first minister of Scotland taking on a man who has absolutely no authority or power? Alex Salmond may as well debate a binman, or a fireman, or a random teacher plucked out of a classroom, it would be no different from debating Darling.

Haha! More excuses.

Salmond is playing a clever game.He may step into the ring nearer Sep 18,2014,but he knows how damaging it will be to his master plan if he has to actually answer a few questions.

Create divide between Scotland and England, rely on image and popularity to stay in the race, then nearer vote day release as much BraveHeart spirit as can be mustered.

Salmond is scared to face Darling.

You've never answered. Why Darling? Why not (say) Michael Moore? Or David Cameron? You know, someone who actually represents something close to his opposite number (the Scottish Secretary and the Prime Minister). Why Darling? What authority does he have?

What evidence do you have for this? Be very specific.

Scotsman Mr Funny Eye Brows is the top BT person and he has publicly challenged Rab C Salmond.

There would be much at stake for these two to go one on one on the box.

Salmond could have much to gain, but he knows he could lose much too.

Weighing it up he knows which way it is likely to go for him.

Darling on weighing it up also sees there is much to gain or lose, but he realises he'll win this debate.

Thus Darling challenged Salmond and Salmond is scared to take him on.

Salmond knows 'his' Bannockburn,he understands that whenever possible you select the time and place of battle.

Which is fair enough, but his tactics do not bode well for the Independent Scotland movement.

I mean it's not even 'hit and run',it's just "run",anti English propaganda, create myth and the Brave Heart thing..

This challenge by Darling would be about currency,Europe,Military, passports, the Monarchy, how the rUK will go about talking to foreign Scotland and that will not be the way Salmond seems to think it will be etc. :)
