So our old boy Bill (this absolute fucking legend) has had kidney issues for a few years now and about 10 days ago he'd lost a lot of weight, wasn't eating and looked frail. He went to the vets who got him up and running gave him fluids and returned home back to his usual self knowing we'd do well to see Christmas.

However Friday night he went down hill again and by Saturday wouldn't drink anything and couldn't even lay down comfortably. He then started to be violently sick. We woke up the kids to say goodbye which was horrific but glad we did and it was off to the emergency vets.

The vet hadn't even finished injecting the drugs and he was gone.

He'll be missed by us all and a few neighbours too.

Terribly sad to hear, but absolutely the right thing. Had to do it a couple of years ago for our 18 y-o ginger tabby...absolutely proud you let the kids get in a last visit! Cheers, Bill!

Looking to adopt a stray, this beautiful boy. First time having a cat (had a dog) so any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Poor lad was abandoned & is currently living in a makeshift doll house & being fed by concerned neighbours, who unfortunately can’t take him in as their cat is less than pleased by his existence.
They’ve been really good by giving him the full vet treatment, he’s okay with being handled and loves a fuss.

Tips? Feed them, water them, give them a warm safe home, shower them with love…. Then sit back and watch the fcuker have you wrapped around their little finger in jig time.

I speak from experience….

For those whose cat is happy with Whiskas a heads up Farmfoods do pretty good deals on the larger packs. They do three 40 packs for £30 and you can get vouchers to make that even cheaper (£6 off if you spend over £60 etc).

I can't see them any cheaper anywhere else for under £13.99. Could be wrong though.

Admittedly we have two youngish outdoor cats so get through 6 sachets a day between them so buying in bulk is fine.

Don't fall for it. Even if they've eaten Whiskas for their entire lives, as soon as they realise you've come home with a massive quantity, you'll be informed that they've never eaten this garbage and demand something different  <_<

Fucking cats, man.

I know what you mean however it's been almost a year on it and seemingly no issues.  Maybe too young to have developed that irritating habit.

I'm quasi-joking - I've never had this issue, as any brief issues with the food in our house were met with a day of hunger followed by grudging acceptance that their housemate is an uncaring monster who will happily keep dishing out the same meals even if they go uneaten*.

My mother, on the other hand, will rush out to buy a few alternatives if hers turns its nose up to a single meal. Two meals and she's on her knees on the floor trying to hand-feed the wee b*****d caviar and foie-gras. Her cat's hated me ever since she was in the hospital for a week and I was going over to feed the wee bugger twice a day, during which time she received the same meal every day and was given fifteen minutes to eat it. She'd got the idea by the time the status quo was restored, but still has horrifying flashbacks to her ordeal whenever I'm over.

* obviously take your puss to the vet if this goes on longer than a couple of days and/or if there are other symptoms, like skitters, apparent pain, weight loss, or lethargy. Well, unusual lethargy.

Ours only eats Tasty Shreds, Gourmet Perle Mini, and those triangle shaped ones with the sauce on top. Won’t touch any other soft food brands - we tried, and failed. As he’s our third cat, we learned from previous experience and tried him with an individual packet of ‘Brand X’ rather than buying a big multipack.

The scene always plays out the same with any new brand we try. I get the new packet out the cupboard, and with a loud voice, say something like ‘yum yum, have a go at this one, hmmmm, it’s soooooo goooooood’.

Paisley walks up to the bowl. Takes one sniff, turns and walks away with a look that says ‘what the fcuk is this shit? Get the saucy triangle ones out, bawbag.’ Funny thing is, with dry biscuit food, the wee fcuker will eat any brand. Wolfs them down. Better for his teeth anyway. 😀
