Still not 100% on GMS - still reckon there’s a chance he might stay

Dragged on so your right so he is obviously considering  it.   was reported  said  last week  we had a deal with a wide player.

But  for the first   4 months the season GMS  was  on top of his game   and  a  constant threat ..  but personally nae bothered if he goes  as will give Ethan and Frank chance .

Losing GMS would be a big blow. There’s not many like him around, and certainly nobody at the club already that’s as good(when he’s on form). Brings a different dimension to the team.

GMS's absence was (partly) compensated by the emergence of Connor McLennan.  He's not yet as accomplished as GMS...he needs to work hard on his first touch....but he offers other qualities and has been a real bonus in a pretty poor season.

McInnes likes an experienced winger though. Conway would fit the profile to a T.

I'm generally a Mackay-Steven fan, and statistics can sometimes paint a half-picture, but it is worth noting that McLennan got seven assists in 1,479 league minutes the season just gone (according to Transfermarkt), compared to Mackay-Steven's two (other sources give one) in 1,690.

I often think assists must be amongst the least reliable of statistics as well. You could create a few fantastic chances but the person on the receiving end can miss them all then someone can pass the ball square thirty yards from goal to a teammate and they end up hitting a screamer and that seems to go down as an assist.

Surprised to see Craddock on the list, especially with Mair apparently about to go too.

Quote

Aberdeen FC has confirmed that Greg Halford, Greg Stewart, Dominic Ball, James Wilson and Max Lowe have all left the club with the expiry of their contracts. along with youngsters David Craddock, Morgan Brown and Ryan Harrington while Graeme Shinnie and Mark Reynolds have joined Derby County and Dundee United respectively

Think that kills the rumour about offering Wilson a contract when he is released and GMS isn't.

Wilson was a massive disappointment although he was excellent the last 4 games after the split. Best to move on without him as you can see he has the talent but i'm not sure if he has the work rate to be successful.

I would imagine that it is because Wilson was a loan signing and the loan contract would have ended when our season ended, whereas Gary Mackay-Steven is contracted until 31 May. Same could be said of Ball, who we will almost certainly be offering a contract to, but is on the list of departures.

He certainly showed more than he had before in the second half of each of the last two games. But it’s stretching it to say he was excellent.

If he was prepared to take a masssive pay cut , so that his wage was no higher than any other player , I’d be happy enough for us to sign him up for one or two years

There's definitely a player in there. Maybe not at Premiership level but with consistency and luck with injuries certainly good enough to be a top striker in the SPL.

He's got pace to burn, good positional awareness, is two footed, and can hit a mean shot. He just (apparently) lacks the full-on commitment necessary to make it big.

I'm sure that McInnes would love to take a gamble on him if the price was right. But it won't be.

In some ways, yes. But one of my favourite  moments of the season was the 'f**k me' look on the faces of Livi defenders when Wilson came on and turned the New Year game our way.

They simply didn't expect anyone to have that pace. It did show exactly what he's capable of.
