Sheep77
Reynolds and Jack have both been out for lengthy injurys this season that might be why they have been shit
lubo_blaha
People may disagree but I think putting Shinnie in midfield could be a solution to our problems at the moment. He's obviously naturally a left back but he excelled in a midfield role in 3 of our biggest wins this season: Rijeka away and the first games against Celtic at home and Hearts away. He's great at winning the ball in the middle of the park and likes to carry it forward into attack as well. He doesn't get bullied in the middle as well and takes some of the load off of Jack as well. Having those two at the base of the midfield gives McLean more opportunities to attack in front of them. It could make a difference to our defence as well. I think a big reason for our defensive frailties is the fact that we're constantly chopping and changing the back 4. Our defence thrived last season with pretty much the same settled back four every week and Considine was one of our better performers at LB. Shinnie is good enough to play pretty much anywhere on the pitch and he is able to influence games more in the middle of the park.

I don't disagree with you but there is something holding me back from condoning playing the first true left back we've had in years somewhere other that at left back.
RussellAnderson
Jack's game seems to have been allowed to develop in a way which has let him become a rather specialist player. He's always had runners doing work next to him when he's looked good (Flood, Storie, Shinnie, at times last season Hayes) and he's looked exposed when next to someone less mobile like Robson or hardworking (defensively) like McLean. If we played a formation like: Brown Logan Taylor Reynolds Shinnie Robson Jack Flood McGinn Rooney Hayes he'd have the runners and tacklers around him to let him do what he does best, which is pick passes, not lose the ball and cover defensively with smart movement, not tough tackling. Its a specialist position which is unfortunate for both him and us, but for whatever reason that seems to be the only thing he's good at. Fwiw, I wouldn't have us playing that formation, but with a better option than Robson (Tansey?!?!?!?) it might work.
DrewDon
Flood deserves a run in midfield. When he has played this season, he's been one of our most consistently competent performers; he was also one of the best players on the park against Hamilton. He's really done little to warrant being overlooked, yet a section of our support almost write him off regardless. I wouldn't necessarily be averse to Shinnie in midfield, but, like WMM says above, I feel compelled to believe that we should be playing the country's best left-back in his 'natural' position. Considine's also had more than a couple of games at LB this season in which he has struggled and looked badly exposed.

Kneetrembler
If we are to be a better team next term than we have been this season, Shinnie needs to be playing Left Back and Consodine a squad player. Flood is a great lad to have in the squad, but he's injury prone, which will worsen with age. Reynolds and Jack need to find their previous form or be replaced and used as squad cover. TBC Logan Taylor TBC Shinnie Storie TBC McGinn McLean Hayes Rooney Bench: Rogers, Consodine, Reynolds, Jack, Flood, Pawlett, (Smith, Wright Shankland ?) Get the three correct TBCs in there and that's a squad with quality cover and competition for places, even more so if we can keep Church. Alex_14
I see us getting a disappointing 7 points out of that if previous seasons are anything to go by
NorthernLights
Hearts on a Thursday night is a bit odd. I wonder when the last time we played on a Thursday was.
Alex_14
Very likely that Celtic will win the league against us at Parkhead. Excellent.

NorthernLights
Thursday night?..........strange scheduling that one Looks to be purely to avoid BT Sport and Sky Sports having a game on the same evening. We're playing Celtic on Sunday and then their game is on Sky on Wednesday.
oilcat
Obviously they never consulted with the clubs or the rozzers as there is gonna be total chaos the last game of the season as its the same day as the Baker Hughes 10k and there are a heap of roads closed from 8am...
BucksburnDandy
I'm 99% certain the abuse Jack gets is due to his Rangers leanings. I have it on good authority that Shinnie is also of a Rangers persuasion, yet he's been branded as one of our own. People seem to forget that Jack is still a good player, we were desperate for him to sign on but unfortunately his stock has fallen this year. Hopefully it can be put down as a bad season and we can move on. I think the captain thing is overstated a wee bit, too. Couldn't we say that Jack captained us to an 8 game winning streak at the start of the season? FWIW I do think Shinnie should be captain, but it really isn't a big deal. Leadership is what's important. One of the biggest urban myths going about Jack supporting Sevco. My dad works with his dad, they are a family of Aberdeen fans, always have been. For what it is worth, the rumour grew from him going to a Rangers semi final on a freebie ticket. I got a freebie to Peterhead v Rangers at Balmoor and went, does not make me a *** in the slightest, nor does it him.

But by that, it means he supported them when he was a kid, chances are he doesn't have time to care for them anymore to be honest. I realise this is my word against yours but it certainly isn't an unfounded rumour.

I don't know which is worse McGinn to lead the Guard of Honour or watch Celtic celebrate winning the league! Hopefully we win all 3 games to stop this although that is unlikely
