HarleyQuinn
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/soccer/fc-cincinnati/2018/06/29/maximum-capacity-versus-ticket-scarcity/745774002/ Maximum capacity versus ticket scarcity: The debate to determine FC Cincinnati's West End stadium capacity Have one less seat in your stadium than you're able to sell a ticket for. For world-renowned stadium architect Dan Meis, that's the catchy one-liner he uses to encapsulate his general stance on determining seating capacity for the sporting and entertainment cathedrals he helps construct. Meis is designing the forthcoming Futbol Club Cincinnati stadium in the city's West End neighborhood, and his viewpoint will undoubtedly have an impact on the number of seats FC Cincinnati settles on for its new home, which is scheduled to open in time for the 2021 Major League Soccer season. FC Cincinnati, currently of the second-division United Soccer League, has proven itself MLS-caliber in terms of drawing crowds. It's attracted more than 20,000 fans 27 times in about two-and-a-half season, and more than 30,000 on six occasions. As such, many fans are hoping the club maxes out the stadium capacity, but Meis said he typically fights against such ideas. "It's always a challenging thing because there's always this sort of business model. How many seats can we sell and what does that revenue drive," Meis said. "There's an ambition side of it that we want a big stadium and we want to be the biggest, so, as an architect, you tend to fight that a bit." Meis helped FC Cincinnati with the preliminary design for its proposed stadium that was released June 12, 2017, but those plans are mostly headed for the cutting room floor as that design was intended for the Newport, Kentucky site that was still in play last year. That original design called for 25,000 seats with the ability to expand up to 30,000. Cost constraints later prompted team president and general manager Jeff Berding to say the capacity would be dropped to 21,000. But now that FC Cincinnati has its desired site in the shadow of Downtown, Meis and the club are going back to the drawing board, and everything from the exterior and interior appearance to seating capacity is back on the table for discussion and debate. To be clear, Meis doesn't make the final call on the capacity. He'll work in concert with FC Cincinnati and their proposed business model. The two sides will collaborate on the final number of seats for the yet-to-be-named venue. "You want one less seat than you can sell on any given day and you never know exactly what that number is, but we've got a pretty good sense," Meis said. "With what's happened at Nippert Stadium and the kind of fans we've drawn to Nippert, having a soccer-specific stadium, certainly within the MLS we know we can do more than 21,000, but it'll be a process where we really massage that so that... it's always going to be full." As for the design elements, Meis said he was excited by the challenge of the West End site, adding that he's already walked the site multiple times and has picked out some existing architecture he'd like to pull from to inform his FC Cincinnati design. "For me, it's often harder if we're working on a big, flat site with no context because then it's really just sort of an object," Meis said. "The great thing about (the West End) site is the physical constraints inform the design, so the idea of being able to connect through the neighborhood, understanding the scale of the neighboring buildings, making that part of the design and letting that inform the design – that's what's going to make this a really interesting project."

Widge
It's not getting overturned. There's been more than one instance of players winning the ball and then following through high this season and they always end up in a red card.

That said, I have seen others quite rightly point out the Nicky Clark red card that was over turned - not hugely dissimilar. Ryan Jack got away with a yellow for landing the studs on Montgomerie's ankle in the same game after a VAR check too. Just in case anyone had any doubts that Baldwin isn't a dirty hoor and capable of trying to leave some studs on Shinnie (he definitely fekin was IMHO), I will leave this here. The compliance gadgies could still pop a card in the post for Baldwin yet..... possibly triggered by a review following Shinnie's appeal. The hearing will take place through the week I’d imagine so a decision will be made before the game.
AngusTheBull
Given who we play next, there is zero chance of it getting overturned. I’m glad we’re making some noise it though, especially given you can easily argue Baldwin should have been sent off if Shinnie’s challenge was ‘worthy’ of a red card.

Would rather Ross County had a full team to play against Hearts tbh.

I see they waved through your last three appeals but had to draw the line at a man head butting a woman. Meanwhile we had Clarkson retro banned for very little, McCrorie’s ridiculous red upheld and Goodwin banned for talking. I don’t think Shinnie’s red will be upheld because we’re playing Rangers, it’ll be upheld because the judicial panel’s a bunch of fannies. But if they were going to do anything as a favour your lot wouldn’t be at the back of the queue.
