J_Stewart Posted November 4, 2017 Share Posted November 4, 2017 Just watching that Magical Messi programme on Sky Sports Football, and it’s not just the utterly obscene, mind-blowing, inhuman number of goals and assists he’s scored / made (and continues to) that makes him the greatest ever, it’s the sheer physics defying quality of them. No one has ever moved like he does, no one has ever controlled a ball like he does, no one has ever beaten defenders with such consistent ease or been as controlled and composed when finishing as he is. One thing I would say is that the era he plays in helps him, look back at the footage of Maradona and before him Cruyff and Best, they were on the end of tackles that would never have been allowed today, also we see Messi and Ronaldo etc..every match in one way or another on TV,you only saw the likes of Maradona at the world cup and maybe a wee bit on football focus or something like it, watch some of the stuff he did on you tube , it's incredible. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I’m no Harry Kane fan, but that’s not what he said at all. He said that Messi and Ronaldo had gone above what is considered a normal standard, had now set a new standard for goal scoring and that he was hoping to emulate that standard*. Scumbag tabloids then changed that to “I’ll outscore Messi” because they’re cretins who will do anything for clicks. *He won’t though, obviously. Ronaldo is a phenomenal goal scorer, an absolutely elite athlete, and the second best player that has ever played, but he isn’t the football player that Messi is. No one is.Messi is one of, if not the best goal scorer in history, whilst at the same time being the most consistently creative player in Europe for over a decade. He drops deep in to midfield, dictates the tempo of games, creates multiple chances per game, both directly with assists and by building attacks, and often times then finishes them too. He’s Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldo rolled in to one absolutely spectacular football player. Luka Modric or Kevin De Bruyne (or any other elite creative midfielder) can’t do what he does, but Messi can do what they can. Harry Kane or Aguero (or any other elite striker) can’t do what Messi does, but he can do what they can.People fawn and gush over him because he is truly, truly special.
