Got a 7am flight to Barcelona next month with Ryanair. How shite is Edinburgh airport likely to be at that time in the morning?

Really looking forward to flying out of Edinburgh on Monday morning after reading the last few pages.

I really hate queuing so I'm paying for Fast Track for security going out and for passport control coming back, £7 each. Might be a waste of money but when it isn't it's great.

You realise you leave and arrive at the same time as everyone else?

Sure, but I'd rather be sitting in a bar than standing in a queue. Haven't tried the passport control fast track before but I've heard on here that the queues can be worse coming back than going out.

I've never had a real issue with security going outbound - even when it was absolutely heaving in July we were through fairly swiftly. The queue coming back in at 1am though was wild, but the fast track looked like a great shout.

Don’t really have any problems with Edinburgh Airport. Queues never seem to take too long and the walking distances are great compared to the Ryanair trek at Dublin. Had a Brewdog hotdog last time I was passing through and it was quite nice.

Mind you, it’s the only good food option. The rest are bollocks. Would it kill then to get a couple of restaurants for people that actually like the taste of food?

No problems flying to or from Canada - plane was late both ways but that was the airline's fault. FastPark was great, checked in and through security no problem and no delays at customs or baggage this morning.

Amazed at how thick people seem to act in airports and on planes but that's a rant for another day.

Ryanair get a lot of deserved flack but being one of the airlines that let's me check in and drop checked bags without interacting with anyone or queuing is hugely in their favour.

Sauntered through Edinburgh from car to plane in about 30 minutes last weekend.

First time I had used the multi story and with the free fast track that comes with it and being on the queensferry crossing  half hour after getting off the plane I'll be doing it again.

Haven't had the joys of Edinburgh Airport since 2018, which is maybe a blessing in itself. We are due to flyout to America at the start of November, I was wondering what the lounges are like?

I have 3 choices between the 2 Aspire Lounges (Gate 4 and 16) and Plaza, has anyone used these and are they worth the money? Can get access for £20 via my Revlout card, so wondered if it would be a nice perk given we are flying on my wives birthday. No idea which group of gates Delta typically go from as it seems a bit of a lottery when I've been checking.

Glasgow was a doddle yesterday morning. As was the border from Poland into Ukraine, if we’re talking about security checkpoints. First time going by bus and expected long queues but I arrived in L’viv an hour early. Not so great when that’s 5am and check in wasn’t until 1pm.

Is that the basic card or are you paying for one of their premium plans?

Have the Metal plan as it pretty much covers itself with the way I use it, not sure if other plans also get access to their smart delay feature. Basically you just fire your flight details in and if there is a delay of over an hour they give you free lounge access.

The two lounges I've been at in Edinburgh are pretty basic, Fridges of fun-size beers and soft drinks plus snacks and the occasional hot food. They can be a bit of a gamble, you can get arseholes tanning free drink and being a pain in the arse or worst of all, listen to an American on the phone. I had that in the lounge to the left as you enter departures from security. Only me and him in the lounge and he was on the phone, doing laps of the lounge while having a conversation.

If you are just looking for quiet and a couple of pre-flight drinks, its fine.

if you are queuing outside the airport at 0600 post check-in to get through security there is something far far wrong with your set-up - whether it be temporary or not. Not helped by the fact that those officials administering the queue seem to be annoyed that you are using their airport to catch a flight.

Absolutely, they know when flights leave and what the busy times of year are, so not having enough staff is down to them. It's been like that for years now, Edinburgh used to be really hassle free

They've also fucked the taxis even more, giving the 'concession' to a private hire firm, where half of the cars look like they've failed their MOT. Plus it's now over £30 to get from my house to the airport, which is about 5 miles in a straight line and mostly along the bypass.

And when SIR KEIR'S socialist revolution comes next year I will ask his first action to be the banning of "fast track" anything at airports, it's monetising the fact they're shite at basic processes.

Though 1 good thing I found was some airlines offer twilight check-in, so you can dump your bags in a quiet period thf night before, rather than queue at 5 in the morning for an hour with everyone grumpy. Though I guess that only works well for locals.

Only really if you're stopping in an airport hotel.

I've been to a couple of places where you can check in your baggage in the city anytime within 24 hours of your flight at designated places and then you just need to make your way to the airport with one less thing to worry about.  I've never done it to be honest.

Also, in Hong Kong they have city check-in which again removes a couple of steps that would normally need done at the airport.

arrived on an overnight flight to EDI this morning and the gate wasn't ready or was occupied. Presumably no option or suggestion of an alternative gate. So 8 hour flight followed by 25 mins sat on the runway tarmac until the one and only gate offered to the flight became vacant.......
