It's good that despite the coronavirus and the massive downturn in the economy, there is at least one business that is booming.

"One new gun owner told BBC News that he made the decision to buy his first two firearms on 12 March, one day after the NBA announced that they were suspending all games."

No basketball? I can see why that would motivate you to buy a gun...

If I stayed in the US first thing I'd do is buy a gun. That's why I'd never stay there as it's a totally fucked up country.

Despite gun sales rocketing the number of people owning guns has fallen over the years, it's just that gun nuts have been collecting loads.

Might have been watching too many American films recently but my first thought was a Mafia style hit rather than political.

P.S. Maybe not, maybe a diversion for a bank robbery on the others side of town. Batman will sort it out.

Quote

Williams, who lives in a loft apartment on the third floor, said she heard the sound of loud, rapid-fire gunshots at about 4:30 a.m.

After multiple rounds of gunshot sounds, Williams said she called 911.

Then, she said, she heard a repeated warning she said came from the RV parked outside her building.

“Evacuate now. There is a bomb. A bomb is in this vehicle and will explode,” she remembers the recorded warning saying.

Then, she said, the voice started a 15-minute countdown.

Williams said she, her spouse and family left the lofts in their pajamas. She took her cat Mavis but left her valuables behind.

They headed to Nissan Stadium and waited. When they didn’t hear an explosion, they headed back. They were at Second Avenue and Broadway when they saw a fireball fly over the AT&T building on Second Avenue.

From the modus operandi, it was either some sort of half-assed attempt to kill police officers (reports of police being called due to supposed gunshots), or this wasn't the intended time/place of detonation. Bomb squad were reportedly on the way when it went off, so possibly the perpetrators were listening to the police radio and blew it up to hide the evidence.

Edited my post while you posted that, just so you know.

Some incel has gone on a racist killing spree in Atlanta. Cops say he was "having a bad day"

Of course, he looks exactly like you imagined. This was pitched as being about race but it looked to me from the outset that it was more likely to be misogynist.

Last month a guy in Toronto was sentenced for killing 10 and injuring 16 more in an incel attack, and in May last year, also in Toronto, a guy killed one and injured two in a machete attack at a massage parlour. Just in December a 22 year old man heavily into incel ideas was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh of planning a terror attack. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-55317874 There has been a huge rise in these types of attacks and prosecutions.

And there are people who want us to feel sorry for these c'nts.
