RussellAnderson
Why on earth do ex-pros feel the need to trot out this garbage at two week intervals?! They were relegated, and Hibs have passed up on two good chances to get promoted, hence why they are not Premiership sides. If they get promoted, which it looks like at least one of them will, then they will be Premiership sides. Why is it such a hard concept to grasp up here that some clubs go down because they're just not that good. You don't hear it in England. Leeds and Forest and Villa aren't "premier league sides in waiting". Pish.Another thing has been the consistent over-rating of our championship since the 14/15 season. Players who have performed well down there have come up to the top flight and been shite, but when has that not happened?! The shock that Waghorn, Tavernier, McKay, et al can't cut the mustard has been strange IMO. How many times has a player been signed after performing well in that league, and ended up being shite?! I could name you hunners!!

I'm sure he probably does believe the whole 'they deserve to be in the premiership because they have big crowds' bullshit.

In fairness with regards to your Championship argument you won't get too many leagues in Europe where the side promoted to the top flight finished 3rd and then 2nd/3rd the following season. And the national cup final was contested by 2 sides from the second tier as well. Can see your point in regards to the annoying stories being trotted out though.
ICTChris
To be fair to Brewster, he did his best to make Dundee United a seaside league team in waiting when he was in charge at Tannadice.

It's not like their new signings have contributed anything to their premiership campaign either, the likes of Garner, Senderos (is he still there?), Hill etc have all been pretty poor.

HibeeJibee
In the other thread I'd forgotten that other pitfall of a winter break: the Scots fitba media having to create ever greater OF transfer hyperbole for 2 weeks, rather than look at the lower-leagues.
Ron Aldo
"Barca begged Toral to stay." I'm sure they were kicking themselves as Toral (who?) was turning out for European giants such as Brentford and Birmingham. Meanwhile, Barca had to make do with Xavi and Iniesta.
Miguel Sanchez
Graeme Macpherson did well to write those paragraphs while struggling to keep his massive bread-wrapper covered erection under the desk. Toadying shite.
Stu
Admittedly, the subtlety of that one passed me by at first. Thankfully, I am not a major sports broadcaster like, say, Sky Sports...

HibeeJibee
Nothing unusual in that of course. He hasn't broken into the team since joining in the summer and has never scored for Grenada. Perplexity of our tabloid journalism - Granada are labelled "minnows", yet it's proud headline news that Rangers priority target is someone with 4 starts + 1 sub appearance for them. EDIT 5 starts/1 goal if include Copa del Rey. Edited January 7, 2017 by HibeeJibee

That'll explain why he's always described as an "ex-Barcelona starlet", or "Arsenal midfield ace" then.
