Probably the most vitriolic coverage we've had for quite a long time, and it's utter, utter bullshit. That's an absolutely dreadful piece. Completely non specific in its criticisms, but making them anyway. The St Mirren players are apparently to be attacked for Friday's performance: a) because they tried really hard to get a result And b) because they didn't try hard enough to get a result. It really is just a lame, impotent defence of a pal. St Mirren should ask him to support his comments.

It feels like the media have free reign to spread whatever shite they want without any issue.
Stu
Great to get such informed opinion from guys who haven't been near our place for the last three seasons and only turn up this year when we're playing one of the Old Firm. And on that note, it was lovely to see said journalists turn up for Friday's game and not get a seat with a desk in our ridiculously small press box because they had been reserved for other people. And the fact I had one of the reserved seats definitely did not have any impact on me taking even more joy from this situation.

He goes out of his way to accuse the St Mirren team of basically chucking games. While it's possible that he's correct, this is clearly quite a drastic step for a professional footballer to take, and he makes no effort to adequately examine why the players would do such a thing.

Or provide any evidence for the charge beyond the fact that they've lost some games. By such logic, the players of Dundee and Falkirk have really chucked it. In fact the Falkirk ones are at it again, trying to get their new manager sacked too.
ah-dee
What a shite thing to complain about. Before the game St Mirren were huge odds to take a draw from the game, it was a great start for the new manager. Eta: After a minute on google (might be wrong). Before last night, St Mirren had only had 7 results (draw or win) in all competitions v Celtic since 1990.. 1 result every 4 years, for a new manager to come in and get a result in his first game against the Champions after having such a bad start and being pumped 4-1 in the last league fixture is superb for him. yawn

It's amazing the difference in reaction from the established OF "jobs for the boys" media and the newer media out there. If you read any of the football blogs, or the podcasts like the Terrace or whatever, virtually nobody thinks St Mirren were wrong to sack Stubbs. Even on here there has been almost no supporter of any club who didn't think he had to go. These guys seem so detached from the reality of what the average punters think these days. No wonder nobody is reading their newspapers. It was the same when we sacked Rae btw. It'll be the same when Dundee sack McCann as well.

Correct. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'd like to see any professional in any walk of life give 100% effort for a new manager who has come into a role only to tell all of them they are shite and are free to find something else ASAP. I'm quite sure that the vast majority of people in life would be on 'phone it in' mode from there on out. That is just one of several instances that made up for a manager who very quickly lost his dressing room. These hacks seem to think football exists in some sort of alternative universe where players should let bad team management and bad man management slide and still run through walls for a guy who is universally disliked and they are snakes if they don't. Hell mend them if daft wee things like morale or happiness means they give less than full effort. Instead of attacking the people who suffered under Stubbs and Jackson and our board for making a costly decision, they should really be focusing on the two men who lost their jobs and asking themselves just what did these two do that was so bad to get punted after 4 league games, given that Jack Ross had a much worse start to his St. Mirren tenure and over a longer period of games, yet was never in any danger of the sack? If they did any sort of research, they'd find a lot of stories there. But then they couldn't do that without exposing just how poorly their two pals have behaved.
