"How has that not went in?"

Not my words; those used by the BBC for a late website update on the Scotland game.

Seriously, who are they asking to perform such tasks?

What's the problem?

I don't suppose it's that important really, but I genuinely find it pretty shocking that people who get paid to write for publication, can have that sort of command of the basics.

The command of the English language by new journalists is, on the whole, atrocious.

Don't they run a story like this every time these teams meet?

A single t shirt is newsworthy. Only in Glasgow. However the folks at the Record must be creaming themselves that they have turned up yet another slant on the Simmie challenge.

They probably made the t-shirt themselves.

FFS, he recovered and played for years after that.

There are players whose career was ended by a horror tackle and don't get this sort of coverage eg Norrie McWhirter being done by James Grady.

Why do you think that's the case?

Was it ever thus, but it now emerges more on account of looser editing due to the scale and nature of the media involved?

Does it reflect a genuine decline in the general standards of such things?

I certainly have a feeling that you're right, but I wonder what's behind it.
