Well aware councils are an awful lot smaller and less significant than constituencies, but the votes have been there. topcat(The most tip top)
My Grandfather claimed to have voted for the communist in 1992 having previously voted for every other party at one time or another because, with the Berlin Wall coming down, he thought it was his last chance to complete the set.

O'Kelly Isley III
The Tory vote dropped by around 20% from the last set of elections. But in answer to your first question, this is a classic case of nothing to do with being Tories, but everything to do with being Unionists. Dalgety Bay had one of the biggest No voting percentages in Fife in 2014.....it's no surprise to see people there (who may have been Labour or Lib Dem voters) ditching these tradional parties and voting for the most Unionist/Loyalist. Looking from afar I'm wondering if the Unionist voting habits have less to do with political conviction than a reliance on jobs in Fife dependent on the Anglo-American Military Complex.Staying in West Dunbartonshire and knowing the Helensburgh area very well I've come across plenty of folk whose political calculus is entirely based on preserving their jobs at Faslane and Coulport. In this area it amounts to a form of economic blackmail.

LongTimeLurker
It was related to that and the personal popularity of the councillor involved from what I remember, but have forgotten all the gory details. Think there was also a localised Communist vote in the Vale of Leven into the 80s as well.

The only place in Scotland to ever elect a Communist MP, Willie Gallacher. It was said that the only two people who ever went to Parliament with good intent were Willie Gallacher and Guy Fawkes. Lost the seat to Willie Hamilton, who’s sole claim to fame was he had a bugbear about the royals. Other than that he was firmly on right wing of the Labour Party. Doubtful anybody other than political geeks even remember him.
Sunrise
I look forward to @philyerboots telling us "only the Scottish Conservatives can stand up to the SNP" in Wester Ross -
Sunrise
Not an unexpected result. An OK showing for the SNP in Galloway, in a seat they'd never likely be strong in.
