Terrific attire from Murray. I was slaughtered for wearing something similarlar last week.

To be fair, you will get slaughtered for wearing shorts and t-shirt this time of year.

Nadal v Murray match has been quality. :)

Sensational match. Both players gave it everything. Murray was excellent, but this shows again that he is just that tiny bit behind Nadal. It's not much but it's the difference between a very good tennis player and a great champion. Nadal proved once again that he is the latter. The guy's a machine!

I would think Murray will be pretty pleased with his performance here, especially after losing the first set on a tie break. He needs to go away and work even harder. Next year is a huge year for him, starting with the Aussie Open in January.

Hope Federer gets through to the final. With that crowd we would have another classic on our hands.

I don't necessarily agree that that match showed the difference between a great champion and a very good player. It showed the difference between a great player, who would already be a grand slam champion in any other era, and who probably still will be, and arguably the best player of all time. It's very rare that you get two players playing at their best level in the same game, and that's what happened today, and Murray was not very far from Nadal at all. Wonderful game.

Understand your point, although to me Andy needs to win that Grand Slam event and then he really will be great.

Nadal is a better tennis player than Murray and like today if they both play as well as they can, Nadal will prevail. However it was a tiny percentage difference today, but the quality of tennis by both players was tremendous. Murray won more points today than Nadal did which underlines how close that match was today.

If Murray can up his first serve up over 60% at least and continue to work on making his second serve better he will win a slam. Nadal Murray matches always seem to get the best out of both players if they are both in the mood.

How will the rankings finish for the year if Djokovic loses tonight? Will Murray have bridged the gap to claim or third or just fall short?

I haven't looked but I'd be surprised if he bridged the gap. Djokovic didn't make the semi finals last year either so is gaining points at the same rate as Murray. If he was behind going in he should still be.

Getting back ahead of Soderling is important as if he was ranked fifth, he could end up having to beat Djokovic, Federer and Nadal to win the Australian Open. Being ranked fourth means he will have to face at most two of them if he gets to the final stages. If Soderling were to win one of the early tournaments next year, things could still change.

Murray has final points to defend in Australia, so unless he reaches the final again will almost certainly drop to fifth after the event.

Time to forget about the Aussie Open, back to the grind of the standard tournaments. Murray is playing in the ABN AMRO event in Rotterdam, an ATP 500 event which starts on Monday.

Murray is seeded 2, playing Baghdatis on Wednesday evening (provisional).

Likely run through is Baghdatis, Lopez, Ljubicic/Simon, Tsonga/Berdych, Soderling/Ferrer.

Murray humped by Baghdatis in the 1st round in Rotterdam, 6-4 6-1. Started the game 3-0 then lost 12 of his next 14 games.

Post-final slump again. Wonder how long this one will last.

That was an atrocious performance from Murray, but you need to give Baghdatis respect. When he is on his game he can play some great tennis.

Hopefully, Murray's slump won't last too long. I see he has pulled out of Dubai, next week, with a wrist problem. Thankfully, he only has 45 points to defend.

Next up is Indian Wells, all going well, where he got knocked out in the QF's last year, so has 180 points to defend. Then the ATP tour heads out to Miami where Andy managed to get beaten in straight sets in the 2nd Round, so fortunately he has only 10 points to defend.

The dullard which is Robin Soderling got knocked-out in the semi's in both Indian Wells and Miami, so has 360 points to defend at each event. If Murray is on his game he should easily mange to regain the no. 4 spot again.
