Highlandmagar
Alcaraz is some talent. Showed the bottle on the end.

He’s the youngest ever world number 1, not long turned 20 and got 2 slams to his name and hardly played a match on grass prior to Queens a couple of weeks ago which he won along with Wimbledon. . I believe we’re witnessing the emergence of the new dominant force in tennis.

welshbairn
Gobsmacked by that, was on a plane for most of it so got the first set score before taking off thinking it was a done deal, and just got the result on the news at home.
printer
What to say about that to do it justice? To outplay the GOAT on centre court and deservedly beat him over five sets of unrelenting drama would be astonishing in itself, but to do so playing a level of tennis which at times looked unwordly, well.... Always sad to see a great champion coming towards the end of his career IMO, even if he isn't everyone's cup of tea (understatement alert), but knowing we are now going to be treated to, hopefully, many years of Alcaraz's brilliance more than makes up for that. Hopefully Novak sticks around for another couple of years and we see these two in a few more Slam finals. The king is dead, long live the king! peasy23
First time since 2002 that it has been a name other than Federer, Djokovic, Nadal or Murray that was added to the Wimbledon honours board. It certainly feels a bit like Federer's first win in that Alcaraz looks like he could dominate for a few years. It was some cojones in the last game to balls up a drop shot, but then do it again in the very next point and follow it up with a perfect forehand lob.
Lex
It was an epic counter, definitely one of those finals that will be talked about for years to come. Alcaraz is a generational talent and barring injuries he will be on 10+ grand slams by the time he is 25. If he has anything like the longevity of Djokovic he will pass him in slams won, but not many players can play at the top level into their mid 30's, Djokovic, Federer and Nadal were three freaks in that regard along with many others. These two are so far ahead of everyone else at the moment that I think they will play each other at most grand slam finals for the next year or so. They should have played each other at the final at French Open but Djokovic being seeded third meant it happened in the semis instead, so they are 1-1 in slam matches this year. It might even mean Djokovic starts to play more tour events to keep his ranking up at number 2, and stop him having to play Carlos before the final. The US Open starts next month, it's hard to imagine either of them losing to anyone else, so I think we will see them face off in the final of that one too for the best out of three decider.

TheScarf
Dan Evans wins the tournament. That's a big title for him IMO. The biggest of this career.

Lex
There’s dominance and then there’s Djokovic’s head to head record against Gael Monfils. He beat him in straight sets in Cincinnati last night to extend his career record to 19-0 against him, then signed his shirt…
