Paco
Pretty sure it was in this thread there were some doormats defending the Glasgow Provost for her frankly outrageous expense claims. She’s now resigned, after a meeting yesterday with the SNP so it would appear she’s been forced out. Goes to show the servile wankers aren’t just contained to Tories...
BFTD
Never really thought much of Hugh Grant, but causing a Tory w**k to melt down over not being gladhanded is lovely stuff. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50246099

The response from Javed ("I wonder if people like Hugh Grant think they are part of the elite and they look down on working class people no matter what station they reach in life") says it all. Javed's dad was a bus driver. Did you know that? You must do, he's only mentioned it at every party conference, TV interview, Radio interview, press interview, Tesco checkout, petrol station . . .he probably recites it in his sleep. Solid working class bloke, voice of the common man.
Guest
Hilarious piece on the BBC News this morning, reporting that we should be watching out for "Russian meddling" in the election and that the Russians could be trying to influence our election etc etc etc. Back in the real world, we've got Trump doing Radio interviews and issuing statements promoting Johnson & Farage and telling everyone that Corbyn is the Devil incarnate etc, etc. I could be wrong, however I'm pretty sure it's not Russia that we should be worrying about.....................

There’s a report about Russian meddling in the last GE which should have been released prior to this election. Johnson has deliberately withheld it.

Yes, it's actually quite amusing how many people in this country still seem to think that Russia is a socialist / communist country with these values when in fact it makes Canary Wharf look like a gathering of Marxist fanatics. Of course our media do nothing to dispel this myth and in fact would appear to actively encourage it.........

It could be misrepresented as support for Corbyn though rational folk know that’s nonsense. But to try to ignore this and ignore the government withholding the report should be a matter for concern.

Your answer will dictate whether or not you're included in the group of rational people

Unlikely Johnson would block its publication if that was the case. It also features claims that Russia launched a major influence operation in 2016 in support of Brexit. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/oct/31/boris-johnson-accused-report-russia-dominic-grieve
DiegoDiego
My general impression is that very little real criticism of Israel takes place, because everyone runs scared of being accused of anti-Semitism. Not interested in your whataboutery.... ( other regimes ). It's not whataboutery as I'm not saying Israel shouldn't be condemned. My point was that if every abuse of power was criticised by politicians then they wouldn't have time to do anything else.
Granny Danger
A long read, but an interesting NYT article explaining the corruption of the EU farm subsidies. Can’t understand why most EU countries don’t want to tackle such abuse. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/03/world/europe/eu-farm-subsidy-hungary.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage
Granny Danger
Israeli soldier shoots unarmed Palestinian in the back. Don't worry folks, it was a sponge tipped bullet and the guy was not seriously injured. It was just a bit of fun apparently. Looking forward to the criticism from our politicians. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/israel-policewoman-officer-shot-palestinian-video-charged-a9184141.html
ICTJohnboy
Priti Patel has just announced that the UK terrorism threat level has been downgraded from severe to substantial - its lowest level since 2014. Presumably trying to suggest that terrorist attacks are less likely under a Tory Govt. Irresponsible claim or what? Hopefully no terrorist groups have picked up on that announcement.

ICTJohnboy
Something called a "Valedictory Debate" taking place in the HOC right now, obviously aimed at those who are stepping down at the end of this Parliament. I've never seen anything quite so cringeworthy in my life - it really is nothing more than a mutual admiration society across all sides of the House. Pleased to note the SNP are conspicuous by their absence. If you tune into the Parliament Channel, be sure to have a sick bucket by your side.

Detournement
Laura K reminding us that the official campaign hasn't started yet. Aye we can tell that from the fact you covered Swinson for about four times as long as Corbyn.

In little over two days we have some Tory candidate hoping for folk on benefits to be "put down" and now Rees-Mogg criticising folk who burned to death for not having common sense. It's like these c***s have to prove they are absolute fucking vermin on a near-daily basis.
