Three years ago public sale of diddy cup final tickets.

I don't think half of the punters queuing went to the game that night

#ParttimeThistle

I went to the game that night...there was no queue by the time I got there as all the tickets had been sold and I didn't get one. The tickets sold was far more than the attendance at that night's game.

Glory hunting Thistle Fans!!

In 2009/10 Motherwell finished fifth and qualified for the Europa League. Their pitch expenses didn't seem to do them much harm?

Maybe Motherwell would have done even better if they did not have spend money to improve their park. Who knows where Thistle would be now if they had spent money getting their pitch in order at the start of the season. Maybe they would have fewer quality players and would be where Dundee United are now.

We have one of the lowest budgets in the league and a first team squad brought together an a shoestring budget.

Bottom line is we've not had many issues in terms of the postponement of games in a long while.

Yinited have the third biggest budget in the Premiership according to Steven Thomson.

So basically your wide of the mark. Motherwell like Yinited can always find cash too boost their first team. I wouldn't be surprised if the wages of the 8/9 players Mixu brought in would cover most of our first team squad wages.

Motherwell spent £350,000 sorting their park. Thats maybe five or six good players wages. Take that amount out of their player budget and see where they would be.

Good. f**k 'em.

Serves them right for going into administration and shafting all their creditors.

That's the Motherwell who entered administration, dumped players on the scrapheap, stuck two fingers up to their creditors and subsequently avoided relegation due to a technicality?

The Motherwell that made improvements to their pitch with the threat of a £50k fine hanging over them?

That Motherwell, aye?

Bolt.

I'm all for a red blaze pitch, if only for the abolute carnage it would cause and greeting from every manager about ever having to play on that hellish stuff.

Anyway - somewhat surprised Pride of the Clyde hasn't been along to call us an absolute disgrace yet. Get it sorted, whoever's alias that is.

Starting to think an artificial surface might be the way to go. Quite liked the look of the one from the Russia - England game a few years back (Luzhniki Stadium?) Think it's the same stadium CSKA Moscow play at, anyway.

Really, any artificial surface only needs to fill a few criteria;

a) Is it going to avoid postponements due to poor weather affecting the pitch, thus making gate income more reliable and avoiding fixture backlogs?

b) Is it safe to play on (or rather, not any more unsafe than a poor quality grass pitch) for the players?

c) How cost effective it will be compared relaying the pitch every few years vs. a one-off capital investment of an artificial surface (and, related, whether we can afford it/how we'd pay for it)

d) Does it meet the required standard by the SFA?

e) Can we get the work done in time for next season?

Thistle have had one game postponed in the previous two seasons...why would they have spent money on the pitch at the start of this season? It has been an exceptionally wet winter...Glasgow Warriors with a far bigger budget that Thistle have been unable to play at nearby Scotstoun since early December.

Motherwell(In Administration) escaped relegation in 2003 on the 10,000 seat rule.

In 2004, they voted to disregard that rule and relegate Thistle - Motherwell were one of seven then SPL Teams who have been in Administration or Liquidation and preferred to sign players they couldn't afford than pay their bills...and have since pocketed £££ in SPL prize money when they should have been in the Seaside Leagues.

I'm all for the red ash suggestion. Scotland haven't really produced any world class players since boys clubs stopped playing on it - or so we're told.

Aye, red ash with sprinklings of broken Buckfast bottles, dog shit and a burnt out Vauxhall Nova in the goalmouth.

Let's really give 'Warbs' something to greet about next season.

Not so cuddly anymore.
