If Celtic and Rangers get any where near the 27.0 from last season it would be a massive boost.

3 points minimum in the playoff round then we will need 10 points to beat last year. That's 5 wins between the two sides. Last year Scottish teams got 11 points in the group stages (4 wins and 3 draws).

A combination of OF fans and 'Scotland' ones hoping for an improved coefficient.

At least the OF ones are being honest.  They disgust me marginally less.

Legia is a hard one, They are ranked 75 in Europe by UEFA while Rangers are  ranked 206. They again the previous Danish opponents were ranked 103 places and Rangers disposed of them easily.    Legia have qualified a few times for the group stages so I'm sure they are expecting to beat Rangers.
Aik Stockholm haven't been in the group stages since12/13 season and last reached the third round 14/15.
Uefa expect Aberdeen to be beaten as they were 203 ranked while Rijka was 70 odds ranked.

If Rangers and Celtic get through, no matter who they get in their group Id expect both to get a few wins to bring their points total and even, (stuff it, I'll say it),  make it beyond the group stage.

The higher the coefficient the easier it will be to attract better players, sponsorship deals, TV deals etc

Thats got to be good for all teams surely?

Incontestably bad for nearly all clubs.

Update after this week's games. Close to moving up another spot, if Cluj hadn't scored that late goal then we'd be in 18th. Fortunately we still have a decent chance of getting two teams into the EL group stage, which will be needed if we are to move up further and possibly fight for 15th.

13 eq Czech Republic 7.300 5.500 5.500 6.500 0.900 25.700 +0.200 CL PO
14 eq Denmark 5.500 8.500 5.250 4.875 1.375 25.500 +0.125 EL PO
15 eq Cyprus 3.000 5.500 7.000 6.125 3.250 24.875 +0.500 CL PO + EL PO
16 eq Greece 5.400 5.800 5.100 5.100 2.100 23.500 +0.500 CL PO + 2 EL PO
17 eq Croatia 4.500 5.125 5.125 5.750 1.875 22.375 +0.500 CL PO + EL PO
18 eq Serbia 4.250 2.875 6.375 6.000 2.375 21.875 +0.125 CL PO + EL PO
19 eq Scotland 3.000 4.375 4.000 6.750 3.625 21.750 +0.250 2 EL PO
20 eq Norway 7.250 1.375 4.000 5.375 3.250 21.250 +0.375 CL PO + EL PO
21 eq Switzerland 5.300 4.300 6.500 3.900 0.600 20.600 +0 CL PO + 2 EL GS

While I see after this most people are staying positive and looking ahead. It might be time to worry about dropping from last year's final ranking of 20th.

Switzerland are guaranteed three group stage teams and Norway will have at least one team make a group stage. Then Sweden back in 22nd could get AIK and Malmo in the Europa League groups as well, which would mean Celtic would of been knocked out.

I think Celtic were bookies favorites this week but still got beat.

legia schooled Celtic home & away a few years back

That was 5 years ago - I'm not sure how relevant that is going to be with a completely different group of players.

While that is a possibility, with the new competition coming for 2021/22 it doesn't matter whether we stay 20th or drop down as 18th-28th all get the same deal in the access list. Our 2015/16 score is the lowest in the top 22 so we'll move up to start next season in 15th.

I've been talking to some Legia fans on Twitter and they all say that their team now is behind that team that beat Celtic. Plus they're not convinced by their current manager.

Still a tricky test though where the away leg needs to be about composure in a tough environment.

It doesn't change the qualifying process but a drop means we're either worse or those around us are improving. So it does matter if the aim is to 15th for the additional European spot.

On current standing Scotland would be 16th and there's still a lot of football to be played in the 2019/20 season so it could be lower. And other than Sweden everyone else is guaranteed more chances to pick up points than us. The most extreme example being Switzerland that have 20 games to play at a minimum.

Those rankings are different from the kassiesa ones. The points match I think but there's a bunch of teams missing. It has Scotland as 15th for 16/17 - 20/21 seasons so far too.

I was only looking at 15-22 so missed Czech Republic dropping from 13th below Scotland. Thanks

Falling out of the top 20 certainly looks more difficult to do. However, the Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, Serbia and Switzerland are highlighted as the best bets to surpass Scotland's current ranking. If both Celtic and Rangers get knocked out in the play-offs then Scotland should at least stay in 20th.
