I know you're being reductive but the Tories taking a seat for the first time since 1959 is pretty noteworthy news.

Don't disagree and far more newsworthy, but surely a mention of a WM by-election on a politics programme hours after it announced merits a mention?

Scottish politics has decoupled from English ones now to such an extent that 90% of the intended target audience might reach for the remote if there is no Indyref2 angle.

Nearly there folks.

No doubt most of the pollsters will be clustered around a similar point. Would like to see the other pollster results though, if only because ComRes were the farthest out in terms of the election just past, at least in terms of underestimating the SNP vote.

Two points....well actually 3...

-any poll at this moment is irrelevant. A second referendum is years away under any set of circumstances. It will happen though.

-polls leading up to last week's election were often seized upon by gleeful Unionists as evidence of failing SNP support. Turns out that was all shite and SNP support held strong....in fact, increased. So any nutcase Yoon celebrating a poll like this should tred carefully.

-most importantly, Stormzy is nothing more than a *** troll. Ignore him rather than reply to him.

Last ComRes came in at SNP 42%, no? Final vote share was 47.2%?

Was there anything particularly interesting that stuck out when looking at the polling companies and the last election now the dust has settled a bit, any obvious flaws or anyone getting it terribly wrong?

ComRes stood out a bit in terms of it showing a fair drop in SNP constituency support over it's last 3 polls, from 48 down to 42. The rest showed a fairly static or slightly improved picture over the same period.

So most pollsters reckoned we were on for an SNP minority/Indy majority or even a wafer thin SNP only majority. ComRes stood out as having no Indy majority even with the Greens.

Also, Panelbase got it dead wrong on Alba. Their panels consistently showed a much higher polling figure. 4-6% when everyone else was showing 1-2%

Happy birthday to any man born on this day in 1955. You have gone from birth to state retirement age without Scotland having voted for a majority of MPs who took the Conservative whip at Westminster.  "United" Kingdom"?

I think that you also have had the joy of living under a UK Conservative Government for 42 of those years.

Thank goodness for that.

Oops... Looks like the Laird of Ecclefechan or whatever he's called in Scotland has been involved in upsetting some of the Hibs faithful...

The Royals would see their popularity shoot up if they bought everyone a pint when doing the everyman pub visit schtick.

Would literally be like one of us spending the lint from our pocket.

Careful now.  These perfidious Albionites would buy you a pint, and you'd find a shilling in the bottom of it - WHEECH... THUD... you wake up in the "Royal" Navy.
